Benefits of praying in tongues

We have  great faith and a great confession. ( 1 Cor 10:31)

Pray, honor all dream team members and pray in faith over them.

Introduction.

Morning, I am delighted to share the word of God with you today.

On the screen you will see a fancy car with a fancy dashboard with lots of buttons.

Now when we purchase the vehicle we get given a manual and the manual teaches us how to use the buttons and the buttons are the benefit of the vehicle.

Like we push the air con button we get refreshed and cool down.

There is a pedal to go faster.

There is speed control

And a bunch of  all sorts of buttons that are attached to the benefit of the vehicle.

Now the bible says my people perish because of a lack of knowledge

Hos 4:6  My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge; because you have rejected knowledge, I reject you from being a priest to me. And since you have forgotten the law of your God, I also will forget your children.

So today I would like to try and attempt to communicate what I believe God is saying to us.

To unlock the full benefits of praying in tongues,

Like a vehicle we need the manual to unlock the benefits , we need the bible to unlock the benefits of speaking on tongues.

So today we will look at 10 benefits to praying in tongues.

1 Cor 14:18

I thank my GOD, I speak with tongues more than all of you.

The great Apostle Paul wrote and spoke much about the subject of speaking in other tongues, and he practiced what he preached.

He prayed in tongues and enjoyed the blessing of it in his everyday life.

The purpose of this preach is to increase your faith and practice so that you can believe in the benefits of speaking in tongues and spend faith filled time praying in the Holy Spirit.

And start to see the Holy Spirit's power flowing through your life.

Benefit 1

Acts 19:6  Acts 2:4, Acts 10:46  Speaking in tongues is evidence of being baptized or empowered by  the Holy Spirit .

Benefit 2

1 Cor 14:4 Speaking in tongues is a means to  edify our self.

The word edify in Greek  means:

Thayer Definition:

1) to build a house, erect a building

1a) to build (up from the foundation)

1b) to restore by building, to rebuild, repair

2) metaphorically

2a) to found, establish

To make more able to do the will of God for your life..

(MKJV )Jud 1:20

But you, beloved, build yourselves up in your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit.

When you are feeling down, pray in tongues in faith expecting the Holy Spirit to edify you.

Benefit 3

It is a massive reminder to ourselves that the Holy Spirit lives in our body.

Keeps us aware of His presence living on the inside of us.

When we pray in tongues we become more aware of His presence living in us.

The more conscious we are of His indwelling presence in us the more we are affected by Him in our everyday living.

Take long intervals and pray in tongues, become aware of His presence , become aware of His thoughts.

Benefit 4

Rom 8:27

And He searching the hearts knows what is the mind of the Spirit, because He makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God.

Speaking in tongues removes selfishness in our prayers.

We pray the will of GOD into being for our life's.

However we need to do the praying in tongues as an act of our will and act of faith - with out emotions…..

Expecting the Holy Spirit to implant the will of God into our hearts .

Speaking in tongues brings healing to our bodies.

Rom 8:26

Likewise the Spirit also helps our infirmities. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.

The Greek word for infirmities

astheneia

Thayer Definition:

want of strength, weakness, infirmity

of the body

its native weakness and frailty

feebleness of health or sickness

of the soul

want of strength and capacity requisite

to understand a thing

to do things great and glorious

to restrain corrupt desires

to bear trials and troubles

Is a means to pray for things that we would never think to pray.

Or a means to pray into difficult situations.

Rom 8:27  And He searching the hearts knows what is the mind of the Spirit, because He makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God.

Sometimes we get a burden to pray for someone or some situation we can just lay it before Jesus and pray in tongues

Knowing that when we pray He will pray the perfect will into being.

Benefit  7

Means to receive rest and refreshment.

1Co 14:21 (ESV) In the Law it is written, “By people of strange tongues and by the lips of foreigners will I speak to this people, and even then they will not listen to me, says the Lord.”

Isa 28:11 (MKJV) for with stammering lips and another tongue He will speak to these people.

Isa 28:12  To whom He said, This is the rest; cause the weary to rest; and this is the refreshing. Yet they were not willing to hear.

Praying in tongues is the cure for weariness and tiredness.

Benefit 8

We give thanks to GOD.

1 Cor 14:15-17

So what shall I do? I will pray with my spirit, but I will also pray with my understanding; I will sing with my spirit, but I will also sing with my understanding. 16 Otherwise when you are praising God in the Spirit, how can someone else, who is now put in the position of an inquirer, say “Amen” to your thanksgiving, since they do not know what you are saying? 17 You are giving thanks well enough, but no one else is edified.

Benefit  9

Pray in tongues is the doorway to the Supernatural.

Acts 19:6( NIV)

When Paul placed his hands on them, the Holy Spirit came on them, and they spoke in tongues j and prophesied

Speaking in tongues is a means to pray for people to be born again.

Gal 4:19, Isah 66:8.
