Digging Wells: Fast Forward

As they ministered to the Lord and fasted, the Holy Spirit said, “Now separate to Me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.”

Then, having fasted and prayed, and laid hands on them, they sent them away.

So, being sent out by the Holy Spirit Acts 13:2-4a

Fasting is not hunger strike

Fasting is not diet

Fasting is not starvation

Early christians fasted two days of the week, Wednesday and Friday.

Fasting and prayer was linked together.

FASTING IS SERVING THE LORD

A. Fasting restores my hunger

If you are waiting on God, do what waiters do: serve.

(Luke 12:37-38).

Minister: to serve the state at one’s own cost, to do a service, perform a task.

B. Fasting control my appetites.

Fasting is preparation for temptation.

C. Fasting increases sensitivity to Holy Spirit.

Fasting is not making God talk but make me hear

Story: LAST YEAR!!! Giving!

FASTING IS ABOUT SEPARATED TO THE LORD

A. Fasting is being separated to the Holy Spirit.

B. A vessel that honors the Holy Spirit will be a vessel that the Holy Spirit will honor (1 Samuel 2:30)

Calling is discovered (gold, silver, wood, clay) (2 Timothy 2:20-21)

Consecration is decided (honor or dishonored) sanctified, prepared, useful…

You are enslaved by what you enjoy.

What you do in your free time will either set you free or enslave you.

Everyone’s norm.

Its numbing.

Not nurturing my precious Holy Spirit.

Conscience is defiled.

Spirit is grieved.

Faith is leaking.

Guilt comes to aid.

You are what you enjoy

Its not about formula of what to separate from but focus on what to separate to.

FASTING AS SENDING BY THE LORD

A. Paul was sent by Spirit but first he was separated to the Spirit.

B. There is your current work and your called work.

Shepherd - King.

Prisoner - Minister.

Fisher - Rock.

C. Your called work comes with confirmation and commission.

MARIAS STORY

I decided to start a 21 day fast at the beginning of the new year.

During the time in which I started my fast these are the following things that were happening in my life.

The summer before I had lost an amazing job in which I had great pay.

I did not speak in tongues.

I was not happy with the job or position I had.

My day today life was just really dark.

It didn’t totally suck but I was not happy and I felt as though I had a wall in front of me and I was fighting a non existent battle day/night

Many things happened during my 21 day fast.

One crucial thing that happened DURING my 21 day fast is that a specialty practice out of Seattle Washington sought after me and they decided after meeting with me that they were going to open a new clinic here in Tri-Cities and I was going to be the person in charge of opening this clinic.

Unqualified, uneducated for the position, but with the help of God.

I successfully opened the clinic in September.

Today I lead a team of technicians, and Dr’s.

I RECENTLY SPOKE IN TONGUES AT HOME GROUP

Also during our sacrifice week at HungryGen I knew that I didn’t have nothing big to sacrifice but during one of our morning prayers one of our pastors said “if you don’t have anything to give ask God to bless you with something so that you may be able to give.”

I repeated that prayer that day.

And later that week God opened my mind as to where I was going to get that gift.

I gave my sacrifice the following week.

AND now my income has doubled and I do close to nothing at my job.

Not only am I the head in this company but each of my team members that works with me was hand picked and prayed over and I’ve gotten to share this story with every single member of my team.

Life is NOT perfect but God continued to sprinkle His blessings on my life and most importantly my walk is like NO OTHER!

I’ve received healing for my knee and my bipolar disorder in Jesus name last year while doing a 3 day fast and praying live with Pastors Martin and Vlad.

Attending the Raised to Deliver Conference now and I was tempted to leave early to fly back home because I am so inspired to bring what I’ve learned and experienced back home to my church and my job.

The healing, delivering, miracle working presence of Jesus is cultivated here by faith.
