WELLS WITHOUT WATER

Cold parents produced corrupt kids. Praying parents produced prophetic kid. Moses Heb 11:23; 2 Tim.1:5.

Parents, what you do in moderation, your kids will do in excess!

If you had good parents you have a head start. If you don’t have good example you don’t have an excuse.

Parents decided your history but your mentors decide your destiny. Choices are more powerful than statistics. Children of Samuel didn’t follow his ways 1 Sam.8:3

“If you are born poor its not your mistake but if you die poor its your mistake” Bill Gates.

I. Separate from the World [PURITY FROM POLLUTION OF THE WORLD]

A. Samuel transformed temple but first he refused to conform to the temple.

When you refuse to conform, God will transform. (Sacrifice. Sex. Spirituality)

Don’t surrender if you don’t have support. Pressure popularity. New norm. Everyone’s doing it. FROG: “The boiling frog is a fable describing a frog being slowly boiled alive. The premise is that if a frog is put suddenly into boiling water, it will jump out, but if the frog is put in tepid water which is then brought to a boil slowly, it will not perceive the danger and will be cooked to death.”

B. Not conforming to the culture will cost you something but getting transformed by culture will cost you everything. Low life is overpriced. Missed the party, lived in the purpose. Loss of freedom. Loss of finances. Loss of fun. TITANIC: “If salt loses its saltiness, it's not good for using as salt any longer because there's no salt actually there. ... Jesus warned that the salt of his disciples could become unsalty, and therefore, tasteless and therefore useless. It is no longer good for anything except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men.”

II. Serve the Lord [PURSUIT OF PRESENCE OF GOD]

A. Don’t settle in success that separation invited.

Favor is not final. Growth is an appetizer. Potiphar house is just a step. Wilderness is not it.

B. Stay fascinated with God when you get familiar with the things of God.

III. Submit to Authority [POSITIONED FOR PROPHETIC DESTINY]

A. Fear of God causes us to honor flawed authority (youth pastors honor pastors) “Served and then submitted” 1 Pet.2:13-18. Servants Rom.13:4. 2 Tim.2:1-2. Moron. Pig. Idiot. Stupid. Con-artist. False prophet. Dishonor reveals about you (Eli’s kids. Ham. Mariam). Dishonor doesn’t help them. Name calling. THESE ARE WELLS WITHOUT WATER. 2 Pet. 2:17 B. Key to our assignment is not great authority but great attitude.

Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. “Honor your father and mother,” which is the first commandment with promise: “that it may be well with you and you may live long on the earth.” Ephesians 6:1-2

Obedience (action) - because its right thing to do. Honor (attitude) - because there is reward.

David honored flawed authority. Jesus honored flawed authority even on the Cross.

Did you call me? 3 times? Answer the call of your parents.

C. Flawed priest activated Samuel to become a fire prophet. (Boxes, football players listen to coaches) He had a voice. He was an influence.

If you miss the opportunity, second, third, fourth time, God came into the room.

Honor positions you for what God called you but God hides instructions in those you struggle to honor.

Extra:

A Muslim man in Egypt killed his wife and then buried her with their infant baby and 8-year old daughter. The girls were buried alive! He then reported to the police that an uncle killed the kids. 15 days later, another family member died. When they went to bury him, they found the little girls under the sand — ALIVE !!

The country is outraged over the incident, and the man will be executed.

The older girl was asked how she had survived. “A man wearing shiny white clothes, with bleeding wounds in his hands, came every day to feed us. He woke up my mom so she could nurse my sister,” she said. She was interviewed on Egyptian national TV, by a veiled Muslim woman news anchor. She said on public TV, “This was none other than Jesus, because nobody else does things like this!” Muslims believe Isa (Jesus) would do this, but the wounds mean He really was crucified, and it’s clear also that He is alive! But, it’s also clear that the child could not make up a story like this, and there is no way these children could have survived without a true miracle.

Muslim leaders are going to have a hard time to figure out what to do with this, and the popularity of the Passion movie doesn’t help! With Egypt at the center of the media and education in the Middle East, you can be sure this story will spread.

Secular had son got some shots. Tongue went inside. Pastor came to visit. Prayed. Family felt bad and went to give credit to church. Got saved 1 year later. Led largest messianic church in US, son was that kid now leads that church

Eli rebuked his sons but didn’t remove them from office, so God removed from the earth.

How to Separate from the World Practically:

1. Conviction, not comfort. (Whats right, not what I can get away with or easy)

2. Consistency. Trends change. Fads fade. Flower fades. Grass withers. Run with endurance (determination)

3. Create a click. Moses needs Aaron. Caleb needs Joshua. Peter needs John/James. Paul needs Barnabbas.

How to Minister to God Practically:

Make a priority to spend time with God Make a plan (if you fail to plan you plan to fail, plan thats doable, sustainable) Overcome procrastinations.

“If we imitate the culture, we lose our distinction. If we isolate from the world, we lose our influence.”

Mistake Eli made is that he left a passive example and he honored his kids more 1 Sam.2:29

How are you going to answer the call of God, if you ignore phone calls of your parents?

Samuel is now no longer a little child (see 2:21, 26). The Jewish historian Josephus places his age at 12 years; he may have been older. the word of the Lord was rare. See Pr 29:18 and note; Am 8:11. During the entire period of the judges, apart from the prophet of 2:27–36, we are told of only two prophets (Jdg 4:4; 6:8) and of five revelations (Jdg 2:1–3; 6:11–26; 7:2–11; 10:11–14; 13:3–21).

God has established significant jurisdictional structures:

Family: husbands and parents (See Ephesians 5:21–29, 6:1–4, and Colossians 3:18–21.)

Government leaders (See Romans 13:1, Titus 3:1, and I Peter 2:13–17.)

Church leaders, elders, and other believers (See Hebrews 13:7, 17; I Peter 5:5; and Ephesians 5:21.)

Employers (See I Peter 2:18, Titus 2:9, Ephesians 6:5, Colossians 3:22, and I Timothy 6:1–2.)
