Power of Fasting

For God, who said, “Let brilliant light shine out of darkness,” is the one who has cascaded his light into us—the brilliant dawning light of the glorious knowledge of God as we gaze into the face of Jesus Christ. 2 Corinthians 4:6 (Passion)

We are like common clay jars that carry this glorious treasure within, so that the extraordinary overflow of power will be seen as God’s, not ours. 2 Corinthians 4:7 (Passion)

1. Fasting puts spirituality above biology.

Clay jar shouldn’t make choices.

Body shouldn’t dictate behavior

Angels and Animals

Dogs don’t have self control so their body makes their choices

Body does better under rule of the spirit than spirit under the rule of the body (father and infant)

2. Fasting expels toxins in the body and exposes transgressions in the soul.

Clay jar but clean!

Ego tripped, not identity

Sin nature leads to trespassing. Transgression refers to presumptuous sin. Iniquity is premeditated choice

Therefore if anyone cleanses himself from the latter, he will be a vessel for honor, sanctified and useful for the Master, prepared for every good work. 2 Timothy 2:21

3. Fasting helps us to treasure the true Treasure.

TREASURE is glorious, it’s knowledge of God in the face of Jesus, it’s the light.

As vessels of Gideon carried fire - we carry treasure.

The treasure is Christ, not the clay.

We are this filed with this treasure, seek, sell, buy it

4. Fasting takes us from flowing in the gifts to overflowing with power.

Clay jar overflows with power

Don’t settle to flow with gifts.

Power will overflow

Power will be extraordinary

Power will be seen

Power will be of God

God wants to reveal EXTRAORDINARY power through ORDINARY people.

God wants to OVERFLOW with His power; it’s not enough to just FLOW with our gifts.

Flowing in gifts is connected to your identity

Overflow of power is connected to your intimacy

Flowing in gifts you have to have revelation of who you are

Overflowing in power you have to have revelation of Who He Is.

Flowing in gifts comes with practice of gifts

Overflowing in power comes with pursuit of the glory

Danger, Grow in the gift, not glow in the glory.

Danger,

Fasting is not to receive power but to release power

Then Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit to Galilee, and news of Him went out through all the surrounding region. And He taught in their synagogues, being glorified by all. Luke 4:14-15

5. Fasting increases our capacity to endure pressure.

Clay jar is not easily crushed

The result of carry treasure is overflow of power

The result of carry power is overflow of pressure and persecution
