The Myth of Being Ready
Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen. Matthew 29:19-20
Only disciples can make disciples.
Go into all the world and make events instead of make disciples. Encouraging church but equipping interns. Clear system for membership but not discipleship. Crowd is growing but the army is shrinking. It was easier to be a leader of small group than member of church. Church with small groups, not small groups church. Evangelism became department not direction. We are praying for the lost but not preparing laborers. High rate of burn out among volunteers, low rate of burning among believers.
We define our wins. We build laborers, not just leaders. We build process, not just programs. We are about equipping, not just events.
Pandemic has shown that church should not live by events but by evangelism.
Believe. (Draft)
Belong. (Devotion)
Build. (Develop)
Become. (Deploy)
Law turned water to blood. Grace turned water into wine. Feast had plenty of water. Fields have plenty of worshippers. It takes five fold ministry to turn members into a minister. Ephesians 4:12-16
John 2:3-9
Feast ran out of wine. Fields runs low on workers. Matthew 9:37-38
THAT’S NOT MY PROBLEM (but it is my purpose)
And when they ran out of wine, the mother of Jesus said to Him, “They have no wine.” Jesus said to her, “Woman, what does your concern have to do with Me? My hour has not yet come.” John 2:3-4
Your sin wasn’t God’s problem but yours.
I’M NOT READY (but I can be responsible)
Jesus said to her, “Woman, what does your concern have to do with Me? My hour has not yet come.” John 2:4
It’s still God’s will for you to be involved in the great commission even if its’ not God’s time. Turn “Not me” to “Not yet”
The need can change God’s time. The myth of “when I am ready”. Youth Pastor at 16! Mom said you’re on even if it’s premature.
God will mature you through your obedience. Devil will keep you immaturity due to your excuses. (Marriage example)! You have to be mature to get married and you have to get married to be mature.
Obstacles to Obedience:
I HAVE WHAT IT TAKES (Moses / Christ) Grapes have what it takes to be a wine but they can’t become a wine unless they are willing to do whatever He says. Obedience is crushing. Planting, pruning, crushing, fermentation Grapes are your gift. If you refuse crushing, you will end up as a raisin. Time and talents turn grapes into raisins. Heat from the sun causes water to evaporate from the grapes. I DON’T HAVE WHAT IT TAKES (Fisher man) Water doesn’t have what it takes to be wine. “I am not wine”; Jesus says, “Are you willing?”. Able vs available. Leader vs laborer. Skill vs servant. Educated with knowledge or equipped with obedience. Don’t worry about the fact that you don’t have what it takes, be willing to do whatever He says.
