THROW TOBIAH OUT
Tobiah lived around 445B.C. mentioned in 13 verses in the Bible. His name is synonymous with negativity, ridicule towards God’s people and God’s work.
Nehemiah was a cup-bearer for King of Persia, given permission to go and fortify the city by rebuilding its walls and gates.
Spirit of Tobiah is alive and active today.
1. Attacks from the outside but seeks to move inside.
Deeply disturbed that someone wants to seek well-being of Israel Nehemiah 2:10
Laughed and mocked Nehemiah 2:19
Despised and reproached their work Nehemiah 4:3
After some progress, they conspired and created confusion Nehemiah 4:7-8
Invited to a meeting with intent to harm Nehemiah 6:2 (4x)
Hired prophets to cause Nehemiah to be afraid Nehemiah 6:13
Cling to your assignment in the face of your attack.
Stay in your position when facing opposition.
To all the naysayers, secret haters, reply what Nehemiah did
So I sent messengers to them, saying, “I am doing a great work, so that I cannot come down. Why should the work cease while I leave it and go down to you?”But they sent me this message four times, and I answered them in the same manner. Nehemiah 6:3
2. Alive through alliances.
Tobiah alighted himself with Sanballat and Geshem. Nehemiah 2:19; 6:1
All three stooges were governors under the king of Persia.
Sanballat, governor over Samaria. Daughter married son of the priest.
Geshem, chief of the Arabs south of Palestine.
Tobiah alighted himself with a priest
Now before this, Eliashib the priest, having authority over the storerooms of the house of our God, was allied with Tobiah. Nehemiah 13:4
Demons work in groups.
Demons work through alliances.
Soul ties, agreements, vows, covenants, inner vows.
3. Active in the absence of Nehemiah.
But during all this I was not in Jerusalem, for in the thirty-second year of Artaxerxes king of Babylon I had returned to the king. Then after certain days I obtained leave from the king, and I came to Jerusalem and discovered the evil that Eliashib had done for Tobiah, in preparing a room for him in the courts of the house of God. Nehemiah 13:6-7
Tobiah is a demon spirit that attacks you on the outside, assaults you through those close to you so that he can get access to a room inside of you.
Tobiah is not looking to rule the temple, he settles for renting a room.
When we live in absence of holiness, we are aiding and abetting demons who will not hesitate to occupy a room.
Tobiah didn’t stop anything but he slowed down the work of God.
Levites didn’t get paid. Levites left to the fields.
Build the wall.
Repair the gate.
Throw Tobiah out.
And it grieved me bitterly; therefore I threw all the household goods of Tobiah out of the room. Nehemiah 13:8
