Grade level: 4.8
Outline:
I. Christ and His Temptation. Vs. 1-15
II. Christ and His Testimony. Vs. 16-32
III. Christ and His Triumphs. Vs. 33-44
In this passage we are taught the MOVEMENTS of the Master.

I. The Custom Of The Lord. vs.16-21

Jesus attended the service. V.16
16 And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up: and, as his custom was, he went into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and stood up for to read.
Jesus read the Scripture. Vs.17-1
17 And there was delivered unto him the book of the prophet Esaias. And when he had opened the book, he found the place where it was written,
The Lord used a copy of the Scriptures and treated it as if it were what was originally written.
The Sevenfold Ministry of The Lord Jesus Christ:
18 The Spirit of the Lord is upon me,
because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor;
he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted,
to preach deliverance to the captives, and
recovering of sight to the blind,
to set at liberty them that are bruised,
19 To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.
Jesus explained the Scripture. Vs.20-2
20 And he closed the book, and he gave it again to the minister, and sat down. And the eyes of all them that were in the synagogue were fastened on him.
21 And he began to say unto them, This day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears.

II. The Charge Of The Lord. Vs.22-27

Their reaction to Him. V.22
22 And all bare him witness, and wondered at the gracious words which proceeded out of his mouth. And they said, Is not this Joseph’s son?
His reaction to them. vs.23-24
23 And he said unto them, Ye will surely say unto me this proverb, Physician, heal thyself: whatsoever we have heard done in Capernaum, do also here in thy country.
24 And he said, Verily I say unto you, No prophet is accepted in his own country.
His record to them. Vs.25-27
The collection of the people. V.25
25 But I tell you of a truth, many widows were in Israel in the days of Elias, when the heaven was shut up three years and six months, when great famine was throughout all the land;
The calling of the prophet. V.26
26 But unto none of them was Elias sent, save unto Sarepta, a city of Sidon, unto a woman that was a widow.
The cleansing of the person. V.27
27 And many lepers were in Israel in the time of Eliseus the prophet; and none of them was cleansed, saving Naaman the Syrian.

III. The Change Of The Lord. vs.28-32

It started with the people being controlled by wrath. V.28
28 And all they in the synagogue, when they heard these things, were filled with wrath,
It continued with the people in unity against Him. V.29
29 And rose up, and thrust him out of the city, and led him unto the brow of the hill whereon their city was built, that they might cast him down headlong.
It finished with the Lord moving on. Vs.30-32
Jesus departed peacefully. V.30
30 But he passing through the midst of them went his way,
Jesus went only where He was accepted. v.31
31 And came down to Capernaum, a city of Galilee, and taught them on the sabbath days.
Jesus taught doctrine. V.32
32 And they were astonished at his doctrine: for his word was with power.

Conclusion:

The Lord will let you go with Him as far as you want to go.
How far do you want to go?
Song: “All The Way My Saviour Leads Me”
1 All the way my Savior leads me– What have I to ask beside? Can I doubt His tender mercy, Who through life has been my guide? Heav’nly peace, divinest comfort, Here by faith in Him to dwell! For I know, whate’er befall me, Jesus doeth all things well; For I know, whate’er befall me, Jesus doeth all things well.
2 All the way my Savior leads me– Cheers each winding path I tread, Gives me grace for ev'ry trial, Feeds me with the living bread. Though my weary steps may falter And my soul athirst may be, Gushing from the rock before me, Lo! a spring of joy I see; Gushing from the rock before me, Lo! A spring of joy I see.
3 All the way my Savior leads me– Oh, the fullness of His love! Perfect rest to me is promised In my Father’s house above. When my spirit, clothed immortal, Wings its flight to realms of day, This my song through endless ages: Jesus led me all the way; This my song through endless ages: Jesus led me all the way.
