This is a great promise from Jesus.
But.
Mankind from the beginning of known time has participated in the worst criminal act one can do to another.
We have or we believe we have, murdered God and taken the kingdom of god for ourselves.
All we need do is to look at any historical view or just look today.
Look at our communities, our cities, nation, morality, etc.
As Christians we had retreated for to long from society.
To long hiding in the protection of church buildings, pretending to be better than others outside.
Even though we commit the same sins as everybody else out there in the sea of humanity.
What have we done you may ask?
Jesus stated quite frankly to the people.
How about another look inside us.
Jesus speaking again in the crowds.
What about our relationships with others?
We must instead look inwardly each day.
Taking a hard look at our motivations and short term goals in life.
Are we yearning to be more like Jesus?
Are our hearts really broken.
Do we grieve over our condition?
Do we really submit to the will of God? Do we seek for the righteousness of the Father?
Do we show mercy over the poor, the widows, orphans, and others needing help?
James the brother of Jesus tells us:
James 4:8, 10 (NASB95)
Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.
Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded… Humble yourselves in the presence of the Lord, and He will exalt you.
This assembly of believers is a group of sinners looking to becoming a light to the darkness.
Working together to show the love and grace we have recieved from the sacrifice of God’s beloved Son.
Living each day with the Holy Spirit to give guidance to us.
As children of God, we must continue to destroy every man-made deity (wealth, possessions, sports, nourishment, or criminal idea) inside our hearts, seizing the Kingdom of God; replacing God from His rightful authority as the author of all things.
I do believe in the evolutionist theory of the big bang.
God spoke it and
“BANG!!!!!” it happened.
A longing for God’s presence, a pursuit of God’s purity, a delight in God’s pleasure.
These are the inward substances that establish, validate, and foster the enriching of a pure heart.
