You point to Christ
1.
To whom is the Glory Due?
I hope everyone says God.
if that is the case, why do we always talk about what it means to us to be blessed and what for us to be blessed instead of first what we are blessed for.
There are three parts to this text:
1.The faith of the friends.
2. The miracle of the paralytic.
3.The confrontation with the scribes (which if you are not the paralytic or the friends of the paralytic.
Now I have to tell you since I am who I am I identify with the man at the center of this controversy.
this will become evident as we get further in this text, however, the point of this text is that Jesus has the power to forgive sin.
2. Having the right friends is important.
(It may lead to your healing!)
I don’t know anything about the man, I know condition and I know who his friends are.
and who his friends are.
I know the faith of His friends make the difference.
Let’s talk about what faith is.
faith is not super positive thinking.
I flack earlier this month because i made this point.
1A1 the conviction that God exists and is the creator and ruler of all things, the provider and bestower of eternal salvation through Christ.
1B relating to Christ.
1B1 a strong and welcome conviction or belief that Jesus is the Messiah, through whom we obtain eternal salvation in the kingdom of God.
1C the religious beliefs of Christians.
1D belief with the predominate idea of trust (or confidence) whether in God or in Christ, springing from faith in the same. 2 fidelity, faithfulness.
2A the character of one who can be relied on.
James Strong, Enhanced Strong’s Lexicon (Woodside Bible Fellowship, 1995).
when Jesus saw their faith.....
what do your friends do.
( what kind of friend are you?)
Jesus had already announced the Kingdom,
any scholarly Hebrew would have known that if the kingdom is here then of course sin is forgiven.
its important to understand that there will be times that Jesus will commanded the healed not to say anything but he wasn’t hiding His identity.
how do we build true faith ?
by reading the word of God, not just to understand content, but to know the God of the word.
!
these friends knew deep in their hearts that if Jesus was who he claimed to be, all they had to do was get their friend to Jesus!
what kind if friend are you?
and what kind of friends do you have?
3. Let’s go back to the first question.
To whom is the Glory due?
these teachers of the law where saying in their hearts this man is claiming that he is equal with God and they are right because he is.
The scribes did not know this (partly because they did not want to see).
but the scripture is clear blasphemy is sin and the penalty for it is death.
Leviticus 24:10-23.
1 Kings 21:9-14.
however, they cannot deny the reality of the mans healing, so they cannot deny his ability to forgive sins.
I will give glory to God and not man when my healing comes.
do you realize that as you walk away from sin healing comes to life!
Do you know that it is all God and he deserves the glory.
