Heliocentricity or Geocentricity

Which position does the Bible teach, Heliocentricity or Geo-centricity? The Bible does indeed talk about this subject. Before I start I would like to address biblical interpretation. What method do I support. I believe: All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, 2 Timothy 3:16 Having said this I also believe that Scripture alone is inerrant and the only source to be trusted for truth about history, theology, salvation, and everything. The Bible is the FINAL AUTHORITY. No other source can take precedence over it, including scientists, even Christian scientists. Science changes constantly and must be subservient to God’s Word. Too many scholars today look to science first and then interpret the Bible in light of what scientist’s or even philosophers have to say.

I hold the Historical, Grammatical interpretation of the Scriptures. Historical: What did this mean to the original audience? Grammatical: What do the original Hebrew, Aramaic and Greek words mean. If the words give perfect understanding in their natural sense don’t look for another meaning. If the words have a symbolic meaning, find out what the original audience understood. Symbolism and poetry are found in the Bible and require careful study. Is this symbolism found elsewhere in the immediate context, ie the same book, or secondly in the rest of the Bible? Just because today’s scientists don’t agree with what the Bible says does not give us the right to assign these passages to status of metaphors or allegory. God inspired the Bible and means just what He said. If the world was framed by the Word of God, should we not respect the authority behind God’s Word. see Hebrews 11:1-6. To change the meaning of God’s Word to fit in with the current worldview of our cosmos is to deny the inspiration of the God who wrote the Bible.

In Genesis we find God’s record of the creation of everything. The first 2 chapters record for us God’s creation of the heavens and the earth, plants and vegetation, all living creatures, both people and the spiritual beings, time, signs, seasons, day and night.

On Day 1, God created the light and separated it from the darkness. He divided Light from darkness and day from night. (Preceding this was the creation of a formless earth covered by water). Morning and evening were the first day. God saw that the light was good. Here we have day and night without the presence of the sun, moon or stars. They don’t appear till day 4. The earth had light and darkness for 3 days without these light bearers. Perhaps God’s light shone upon the Earth for these days. 2 Corinthians 4:6 For it is the God who commanded light to shine out of darkness, who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. Job 38:12–13: Have you commanded the morning since your days began, And caused the dawn to know its place, That it might take hold of the ends of the earth, And the wicked be shaken out of it? Later, on day 4 God appoints the sun, moon and stars to bear the light for him. Light is very complex and provides heat as well as illumination.

On Day 2, God created the Firmament. The Lord speaks a lot about the firmament and what it does. The firmament is described as being in the midst of the waters. It would divide the waters above the firmament from the waters bellow it. The waters bellow it will become oceans, seas, lakes and rivers on day 3. Some of the waters above the firmament will rain down on the earth when the windows of heaven are opened at the flood. see Gen 7:11-12. There are still waters above the firmament for they are mentioned again in Psalm 148:4 and in Revelation 15:1-4. In Revelation 15:1-4 these waters are called the Sea of Glass and are around the throne of God. see Ezekiel 1: 22-26, 10:1; Exodus 24:9-11,

Ezekiel 1:22–26 The likeness of the firmament above the heads of the living creatures was like the color of an awesome crystal, stretched out over their heads. And under the firmament their wings spread out straight, one toward another. Each one had two which covered one side, and each one had two which covered the other side of the body. When they went, I heard the noise of their wings, like the noise of many waters, like the voice of the Almighty, a tumult like the noise of an army; and when they stood still, they let down their wings. A voice came from above the firmament that was over their heads; whenever they stood, they let down their wings. And above the firmament over their heads was the likeness of a throne, in appearance like a sapphire stone; on the likeness of the throne was a likeness with the appearance of a man high above it.

Exodus 24:9–11 Then Moses went up, also Aaron, Nadab, and Abihu, and seventy of the elders of Israel, and they saw the God of Israel. And there was under His feet as it were a paved work of sapphire stone, and it was like the very heavens in its clarity. But on the nobles of the children of Israel He did not lay His hand. So they saw God, and they ate and drank.

From these passages we discover some very important facts about the heavens and the earth. The firmament is above the earth dividing the waters bellow like the seas from the waters above the sea of glass. The firmament is both clear and the colour of a sapphire stone which is blue or yellow. Our skies would described as Sapphire blue in colour. The first sky stone was discovered in an old village outside of Freetown, Sierra Leone. Researchers agree that the blue rock isn't similar to any type of mineral in nature. Is this stone from the skies a remnant of a lost advanced civilization or a gift from extraterrestrial visitors?

Sky-Stones - A piece of heaven?

The "Sky stones" are connected by a fantastic legend: She tells us that the part of heaven that the Nomoli inhabited became stone. He shattered and fell to earth as a boulder. Those stars that were in this part of the sky were also destroyed and fragments were thrown to Earth. Shining remains, according to the story, are the diamonds. Just fictional folktales?

Or is there a historical basis for this legend? Locals point to excavation sites where several blue stones of varying sizes were found at depths of 40 to 40 cm. The cobalt-like color is indeed reminiscent of the light blue in the midday sky. Some pieces, which were analyzed in different laboratories, revealed astonishing things: they are not turquoise or other natural products, as originally assumed, but artificial elements: The pulverized samples resulted in a composition of 77% oxygen, 20% carbon and lime, as well as silicon and other materials. During excavations for diamonds, the local workers there repeatedly came across stone sculptures about 40 cm in size, the origin of which is unclear. The geological layers of earth in which these figures were found indicate an incredible age between 2,500 and 17,000 years. A dating that does not conform to the previous findings of archaeology.

In Exodus 24 we saw how God’s feet rested upon the firmament when He appeared to Moses, Aaron, Nadab, Abihu and 70 elders of Israel. Ezekiel saw God’s throne above the firmament and a Man (probably the Son of Man) high above that. He also heard a voice from above the throne that was probably God’s voice. The living creatures are described as being in and under the firmament. There is no doubt that these living creatures are angelic beings of a high rank being so near to God’s throne.

Should it surprise us that God’s throne is so close to the earth albeit exalted above the earth. Isaiah 66:1 Thus says the LORD: “Heaven is My throne, And earth is My footstool. Where is the house that you will build Me? And where is the place of My rest? Where was a footstool placed in relation to a king’s throne? Is it not beneath it? Isaiah 40:21–22 Have you not known? Have you not heard? Has it not been told you from the beginning? Have you not understood from the foundations of the earth? It is He who sits above the circle of the earth, And its inhabitants are like grasshoppers, Who stretches out the heavens like a curtain, And spreads them out like a tent to dwell in.

God is seated upon His throne above the earth. We are insignificant compared to Almighty God who is eternal, exalted, He rules over all and sees all. We are here for but a moment, like grasshoppers that don’t live for very long. The firmament is described throughout the Old testament. What else can we learn about the firmament from the Bible? A little aside here on the word firmament.

Job 37:18 With Him, have you spread out the skies, Strong as a cast metal mirror? The firmament is strong or solid as we can see from Job’s reference and from the description above. The firmament supports the waters above it, ie the sea of glass. It is a solid structure that has doors or entry ways for the angelic beings to pass into heaven if God requires them. The rain from the flood deluge passed through these doors. Psalm 150:1 Praise the Lord! Praise God in His sanctuary; Praise Him in His mighty firmament! Let us not lose sight of the fact the firmament is a solid structure. The ancients understood this and some 20 cultures have illustrations showing a dome over the earth. Amos 9:6 The One who builds His upper chambers in the heavens And has founded His vaulted dome over the earth, He who calls for the waters of the sea And pours them out on the face of the earth, The Lord is His name.

This dome is founded on the extremities of the circle of the earth. It holds in our atmosphere and reflects the suns light by day and provides a backdrop for the stars by night. see Ps 19:1 The heavens declare the glory of God; And the firmament shows His handiwork. The conclusion is that God is near, above all His creation upon and above the earth. He is not watching us from a distance but is very close indeed. The earth is the focus of His attention.

On Day 3 we have yet another division; this time of the seas and the dry land called earth. God separated the seas from the dry land and filled the land with trees, vegetation and flowering plants of every kind. These provide both food and beauty. The land had always been there from day 1 but now God separates the waters so it can appear. God set the earth upon solid foundations and in alignment with its cornerstone. see Job 38:4–11:

Where were you when I laid the foundations of the earth? Tell Me, if you have understanding. Who determined its measurements? Surely you know! Or who stretched the line upon it? To what were its foundations fastened? Or who laid its cornerstone, When the morning stars sang together, And all the sons of God shouted for joy? “Or who shut in the sea with doors, When it burst forth and issued from the womb; When I made the clouds its garment, And thick darkness its swaddling band; When I fixed My limit for it, And set bars and doors; When I said, ‘This far you may come, but no farther, And here your proud waves must stop!’ Job 38:14: It takes on form like clay under a seal, And stands out like a garment. A seal is round and pressed down flat on the clay producing the shape of the seal with a little turning up at the edges. In the Old Testament the corners of the earth mean extremities or edges. There are earth quakes that shake the earth but it does not spin or move. Psalm 104:5 This phrase is used some 66 times. In Job 38:18 God asks Job about the breadth of the earth.

For the first 3 days God has been preparing the earth for the arrival of living creatures He will make on the next 3 days. The Lord takes every detail into consideration. On Day 4 God set the sun moon and stars in the firmament of the heavens to provide light on the earth. They are also to indicate days years, signs and seasons. The truth is right there before us these lights are in (inside) the firmament. The word in means, to abide, to stay at, in, to be in a multitude, among, indicates the realm within which something exists or happens. These lights are to remain inside the firmament.

Genesis 1:14–18: Then God said, “Let there be lights in the firmament of the heavens to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs and seasons, and for days and years; and let them be for lights in the firmament of the heavens to give light on the earth”; and it was so. Then God made two great lights: the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night. He made the stars also. God set them in the firmament of the heavens to give light on the earth, and to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness. And God saw that it was good.

God appointed the sun and moon to provide light upon the earth. They have a place of operation in which they must operate, ie inside the firmament. They are to provide light for the day and night. They are also to make the distinction of time from one day to the next. A solar day is 24 hours long. This is one revolution of the sun over the earth. Does this have further scriptural support? Yes. See the verses bellow.

Psalm 19:1–6 The heavens declare the glory of God; And the firmament shows His handiwork. Day unto day utters speech, And night unto night reveals knowledge. There is no speech nor language Where their voice is not heard. Their line has gone out through all the earth, And their words to the end of the world. In them He has set a tabernacle for the sun, Which is like a bridegroom coming out of his chamber, And rejoices like a strong man to run its race. Its rising is from one end of heaven, And its circuit to the other end; And there is nothing hidden from its heat.

The firmament shows Gods handiwork. How? It is the stage or the backdrop that will reflect the light from these luminous bodies. It’s colour is sapphire blue by day and black by night. The firmament is also a tabernacle or tent in which the sun dwells. Tents in the middle east were large round dome shaped structures not like our rectangular one today. The sun runs a race like a strong man running inside an amphitheatre. His rising is from one end of heaven and his circuit to the other end. The Hebrew word circuit means circle. These are the simple meanings of the words in the original languages. There is no need at all to classify these scriptures as allegorical in nature. They make perfect sense at face value. That’s what the words mean and what the original listeners understood by them. When we describe these verses as metaphors we just make more trouble for ourselves elsewhere. Joshua commanded the sun and moon to stand still during the conquest of Canaan. He named specific places in the land of Canaan over which they were to remain still. He did not command the earth to stand still. This is in perfect harmony with Psalm 19:4-6.

See Joshua 10:12–14 Then Joshua spoke to the Lord in the day when the Lord delivered up the Amorites before the children of Israel, and he said in the sight of Israel: “Sun, stand still over Gibeon; And Moon, in the Valley of Aijalon.” So the sun stood still, And the moon stopped, Till the people had revenge Upon their enemies. Is this not written in the Book of Jasher? So the sun stood still in the midst of heaven, and did not hasten to go down for about a whole day. And there has been no day like that, before it or after it, that the Lord heeded the voice of a man; for the Lord fought for Israel.

The sun is indeed near as NASA has admitted on documents recently released under the Freedom Of Information act. It is inside the dome, close and small; this is very different to what we have been told for about the last 500 years. This is why the sun can appear above, in or even bellow the clouds since they are all inside the firmament. The photo bellow shows the sun inside a cloud. This photo is taken from a plane flying above the cloud as you can see the aircraft wing on the top right corner of the photo.

The stars were also created on the 4th day and set inside the firmament to serve God’s purposes. The stars are also close and inside the dome. They are not millions of light years away. The Bible also describes angels as stars. There are many verses where this can be seen and we will look at some of them now. Job 38:4–7 “Where were you when I laid the foundations of the earth? Tell Me, if you have understanding. Who determined its measurements? Surely you know! Or who stretched the line upon it? To what were its foundations fastened? Or who laid its cornerstone, When the morning stars sang together, And all the sons of God shouted for joy?

I don’t know if all the stars are angels. One thing is for certain the stars are close by and appeared on day 4. The bible also describes both angels and stars with the term host of heaven. see the following. Genesis 2:1 Thus the heavens and the earth, and all the host of them, were finished. Psalm 33:6 By the word of the Lord the heavens were made, And all the host of them by the breath of His mouth. Isaiah 40:25–26 “To whom then will you liken Me, Or to whom shall I be equal?” says the Holy One. Lift up your eyes on high, And see who has created these things, Who brings out their host by number; He calls them all by name, By the greatness of His might And the strength of His power; Not one is missing. See Job 38:31-33.

Israel had been oppressed by King Jabin and his commander Sisera for many years. The Israelites called out to God and He sent Deborah and Barak to deliver them from their oppressors. Judges 5:19–21 The kings came and fought, Then the kings of Canaan fought In Taanach, by the waters of Megiddo; They took no spoils of silver. They fought from the heavens; The stars from their courses fought against Sisera. The torrent of Kishon swept them away, That ancient torrent, the torrent of Kishon. O my soul, march on in strength! God sent His angels to fight against Sisera and help Israel win the battle. The angels caused a huge thunderstorm that caused flash flooding. The 900 iron chariots of Sisera became bogged and unable to help Sisera in the battle.

At Christ’s birth and angel gave good news to some shepherds and the heavenly host praised God. Luke 2:8-14. Consider also the unusual movement of the star of Bethlehem. See Matthew 2:1-12. God is often called the Lord of hosts, a title explaining his authority over the angelic beings. They are His servants. Psalm 104:4. The dragon drew a third of the stars behind his tail. We know that this refers to angels that side with Satan in rebellion against God. Revelation 12:3-4. When Lucifer rebelled against God He attempted to take God’s throne and rule over all the angels of God. Isaiah 14:12–14 “How you are fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! How you are cut down to the ground, You who weakened the nations! For you have said in your heart: ‘I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God; I will also sit on the mount of the congregation On the farthest sides of the north; I will ascend above the heights of the clouds, I will be like the Most High.’ It would seem that Lucifer wanted to leave the appointed position of cherub beneath God’s throne to rise up and take God’s throne from Him; then to rule in God’s place. The term Most High refers to God’s ownership of everything that He has made.

He left His appointed position and tried to ascend into heaven above and be worshipped as God. God cast him out. Other angels left their appointed places of service and took wives for themselves. Genesis 6:1–4 Now it came to pass, when men began to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born to them, that the sons of God saw the daughters of men, that they were beautiful; and they took wives for themselves of all whom they chose. And the Lord said, “My Spirit shall not strive with man forever, for he is indeed flesh; yet his days shall be one hundred and twenty years.” There were giants on the earth in those days, and also afterward, when the sons of God came in to the daughters of men and they bore children to them. Those were the mighty men who were of old, men of renown.

These angels left their own habitation in the heavenly places and descended to the earth and cohabitated with women. The offspring of their union were wicked giants who brought violence to the earth. God judged their wickedness and that of their offspring most severely with the incarceration of those angels and a world-wide flood. The New Testament also speaks about this unholy union. 2 Peter 2:4–5: For if God did not spare the angels who sinned, but cast them down to hell and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved for judgment; and did not spare the ancient world, but saved Noah, one of eight people, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood on the world of the ungodly;

Jude 6: And the angels who did not keep their proper domain, but left their own abode, He has reserved in everlasting chains under darkness for the judgment of the great day; 1 Peter 3:18–20 For Christ also suffered once for sins, the just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive by the Spirit, by whom also He went and preached to the spirits in prison, who formerly were disobedient, when once the Divine longsuffering waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was being prepared, in which a few, that is, eight souls, were saved through water.

These angels who fell into sin by leaving their heavenly abode are described in the Book of Enoch and the Book of the Jubilees. They are said to have lusted after the daughters of men and taken wives from among them. Here we find that there were some 200 of them in this rebellion. They came down to earth on Mount Hermon in the days of Jared. The name Jared means descent. Their designated dwelling place was in the heavenlies where they served God. They left this position and sinned by taking earthly wives. In Enoch 10:1-16 God pronounces judgment upon these angels and in one place refers to them as watchers.

An angel is also referred to as a watcher in Daniel 4:13. He came down and pronounced judgment on proud King Nebuchadnezzar. I believe that they have many responsibilities in the heavenly realms and on earth. They minister to the heirs of salvation. Hebrews 1:14 They fight against Satan and his evil spirits. Ephesians 6:12. They protect Gods servants as happened in Elisha’s time. 2 Kings 6:17 They may be recording the works of men in books to be opened at the day of Judgment. They are referred to as watchers. They are watching what the church is doing and being instructed in the wisdom of God. Ephesians 3:9-10.

The main point is that the angels or stars serve God in the heavenly realms and this is what is said in Genesis 1:16-17 All of creation is under His watchful eye and care. This view prevailed for 5,500 years until the Jesuit order launched its lies concerning the cosmos. Luther and Calvin both fought against the heliocentric view and called it heresy.

One day soon God’s time clock will click midnight and time as we know it now will end. The heavens will recede and the wicked will try to hide themselves from the face of God Who is seated on His heavenly throne and from the wrath of the Lamb. The stars (angels) will fall from heaven to the earth. Revelation 6:12-17 They will see His glory and know that His righteous indignation against them is justified. see Isaiah 24:19-23:

The earth is violently broken, The earth is split open, The earth is shaken exceedingly. The earth shall reel to and fro like a drunkard, And shall totter like a hut; Its transgression shall be heavy upon it, And it will fall, and not rise again. It shall come to pass in that day That the Lord will punish on high the host of exalted ones, And on the earth the kings of the earth. They will be gathered together, As prisoners are gathered in the pit, And will be shut up in the prison; After many days they will be punished. Then the moon will be disgraced And the sun ashamed; For the Lord of hosts will reign On Mount Zion and in Jerusalem And before His elders, gloriously.

The present heavens and earth are reserved for destruction by fire. They will pass away with great fire and fervent heat. I look forward with great expectation to the time when God makes a new heavens and a new earth. See 2 Peter 3:10-14; Revelation 21 and 22 and Isaiah 66
