If there is a biblical principal or truth I could remind you of it is the fact, promise, and guarantee that our Lord is going to return!
Look at what was said right after Jesus ascended into Heaven
Acts 1:11
Acts 1:11 KJV 1900
11 Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.
Look at what the apostles of Jesus had to say about it
1 Thess 4:16
1 Thessalonians 4:16 KJV 1900
16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
Acts 3:20-21
Acts 3:20–21 KJV 1900
20 And he shall send Jesus Christ, which before was preached unto you: 21 Whom the heaven must receive until the times of restitution of all things, which God hath spoken by the mouth of all his holy prophets since the world began.
As Christians we have this promise on lock! It is guaranteed but this promise is meant to do so much more that fill our heads it out to force our hands!
- God has a will for us while we wait! Not bystanders but involved and active!
Does his coming have bearing on your life?
2 Peter 3:8-10 “8 But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. 9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. 10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.”
2 Peter 3:8–10 KJV 1900
8 But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. 9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. 10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.
Peter is writing this to a group of believers who are scattered most likely from persecution
1 peter 1:1
1 Peter 1:1 KJV 1900
1 Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ, to the strangers scattered throughout Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia,
His goal was to remind them on Jesus’ coming
2 Peter 3:1-2
2 Peter 3:1–2 KJV 1900
1 This second epistle, beloved, I now write unto you; in both which I stir up your pure minds by way of remembrance: 2 That ye may be mindful of the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets, and of the commandment of us the apostles of the Lord and Saviour:
Remember what the prophets said about Jesus!
HE IS COMING!
Is 40:5
Isaiah 40:5 KJV 1900
5 And the glory of the Lord shall be revealed, And all flesh shall see it together: For the mouth of the Lord hath spoken it.
These people were to be looking for his coming and be comforted by that! Jesus is coming! Peter wanted to remind them of that!
The Certainty of the Lords Day!
2 Peter 3:9
God is not slack concerning his promises!
Slack= Delayed, slowed
Our God is always on time and his plans come to be!
1 Tim 6:15
1 Timothy 6:15 KJV 1900
15 Which in his times he shall shew, who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings, and Lord of lords;
He is NEVER LATE and his promises are certain
Our Lord will do what he says even when when people doubt him!
“as some men count slackness”
People may laugh but that does’t stop him
He is still coming
He is still in charge!
He is not bound by our time! He is above it!
“a thousand years is a day”
Gal 4:4
Galatians 4:4 KJV 1900
4 But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law,
Our God does not meet any ones time table but his own!
We may not see it or know when but it is happening!
The Care of our Lord
God is being patient for a purpose!
It is his will that none perish!
He is waiting because he wants sinners saved!
2 Peter 3:9

He shows mercy to all
Rom 11:32

2 Cor 5:20
2 Corinthians 5:20 KJV 1900
20 Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ’s stead, be ye reconciled to God.
We are to be soul winners! It is God’s will!
He coming should motivate us share the Gospel
2 Tim 4:1-2
2 Timothy 4:1–2 KJV 1900
1 I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom; 2 Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.
The day of the Lord completed!
It will be a day of Judgement
