This table is for Jerusalem ( -35.216667 Lon,  31.783333 Lat)

(all times are LMT, Equinox Times are the Observed Morning at Location)

Notes Regarding New Crescent Observations:

The table below provides the time of moonset, and the amount of time after sunset that you have in order to see the new crescent.  To see a new crescent, go outside about 40 minutes after sunset, and look at the horizon in the direction of where the sun went down.  Typical observation guidelines for spotting a thin new crescent are that it usually requires a very clear sky, waiting about 45 to 60 minutes after sunset.  Most of the time a clear sky will not be present due to the factors of dust, clouds, humidity, and temperature.  What can be stated with certainty, is that in the evening of the table's specified dates, the new moon is "there" in the sky, and you should be able to see it, if poor observation circumstances do not prevent.

Note there is a 2nd 6th month in the year 2007.

----

[1]  The local mean time the moon sets.  “Mn/Dy Wk Time” is the Month/Day, Weekday, and Time.  The Weekday has Sunday as day #1, and Sabbath as day #7, so w=2 is a Monday.

[2]  The number of minutes after the sun sets that the moon will set.  On 01/07 you have 47 minutes to see the crescent before the moon dips below the horizon.

[3]  The amount of the moon which is reflecting light.  100% is a full moon, 0% is a solar eclipse.  Typically you need at least 1% before you can hope to see a crescent moon.

[4]  The number of days in the previous month.  Notice that 31 day months are listed because the program is calculating, not observing.  The observed calendar never allows 31 day months.

[5]  A flag:  ‘S’ is for solar and ‘L’ is for lunar eclipse.  Signals that an eclipse of "that" type is likely to be visible somewhere on the earth.  It is not saying that an eclipse actually occurs, nor that it can be seen at the location of the table.

[6]  The Julian Day Number, followed by the Date, Weekday, and time of the Observed Spring Equinox at the location of the table, and the year according to the Selucid Era.

[7]  The Julian Day Number, followed by the Date, Weekday, and time of the Observed Autumn Equinox.

[8]  The number of days after the Spring Equinox.
