Jesus told His disciples in John 16:33 that in this world we would have tribulation. We each know the struggle of trying to endure through the hardships of life in a fallen world. Next, however, Jesus also told his disciples, “But take heart; I have overcome the world.” Years later, John would share this reminder with the early church, calling them to ground their confidence in the object of true faith: Jesus and Jesus alone.
