7 Ways to Allow God to Shape Your Life for Revival

Revival occurs when we allow God to shape our lives to receive revival Here are 7 ways that you can do this.

Allow someone you respect spiritually to come along side you as a prayer partner and counselor.

It is important to have an accountability person in your life to help disciple you. They can help you grow in your relationship with the Lord. They can also pray for you in the process. Proverbs 19:20-21
Proverbs 19:20–21 NASB95
Listen to counsel and accept discipline, That you may be wise the rest of your days. Many plans are in a man’s heart, But the counsel of the Lord will stand.
A spiritual mentor can give you biblical principles that will serve as guardrails to keep you from veering off the path that God has for you.

Be intentional about eradicating pride in your life.

Pride is a sin that affects our hearts and desensitizes our souls to perceive the voice and way of the Lord. Luke 18:9-15
Luke 18:9–15 NASB95
And He also told this parable to some people who trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and viewed others with contempt: “Two men went up into the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector. “The Pharisee stood and was praying this to himself: ‘God, I thank You that I am not like other people: swindlers, unjust, adulterers, or even like this tax collector. ‘I fast twice a week; I pay tithes of all that I get.’ “But the tax collector, standing some distance away, was even unwilling to lift up his eyes to heaven, but was beating his breast, saying, ‘God, be merciful to me, the sinner!’ “I tell you, this man went to his house justified rather than the other; for everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, but he who humbles himself will be exalted.” And they were bringing even their babies to Him so that He would touch them, but when the disciples saw it, they began rebuking them.
So how can you be intentional about eradicating Pride? James 4:7-10
James 4:7–10 NASB95
Submit therefore to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded. Be miserable and mourn and weep; let your laughter be turned into mourning and your joy to gloom. Humble yourselves in the presence of the Lord, and He will exalt you.

Be determined to please God and not man

We must be determined to follow Christ regardless of what others will say. Often we are persuaded to act based on the opinions of others rather than the instruction of the Lord. John 12:42-43
John 12:42–43 NASB95
Nevertheless many even of the rulers believed in Him, but because of the Pharisees they were not confessing Him, for fear that they would be put out of the synagogue; for they loved the approval of men rather than the approval of God.
People were afraid of the Pharisees so they would not confess Jesus as the Son of God. We must be determined to follow God.

Align you will with God’s

This is difficult because we sometimes get it backwards. We want God to adjust to our will rather than adjusting to His. Adjusting to His will will always cost us something. Romans 12:2
Romans 12:2 NASB95
And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.
Don’t be conformed to the world. Just because everyone else is doing it, doesn’t mean you need to do it.
Be transformed by the renewing of your mind. We are to allow the scriptures to conform our minds not media, friends, worldly ambitions or anything else the world uses to shape our minds.
Prove the will of God by doing the will of God. Once you have clear instruction on what to do, do it!

Take a sabbatical

A sabbatical is taking time away for the purpose of growing closer to the Lord. It is in times of sabbatical that you allow the Lord to search and reveal the deep matters of your soul. Romans 8:26-27
Romans 8:26–27 NASB95
In the same way the Spirit also helps our weakness; for we do not know how to pray as we should, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words; and He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He intercedes for the saints according to the will of God.
Intentionally seeking the Lord brings the revelation of the Lord. He will reveal himself to you in ways that will deepen your faith and love for and in Him.

Ask people to pray for you to receive revival.

The power of prayer illicit the movement of God. When you ask people to pray that God will send revival to you should pray. It will also give you an opportunity to witness.

Read credible books about hearing the voice of God.

There is much literature out there that can help you hear and discern the voice of the Lord. Make sure that you are reading people that you trust and are credible. There are wacko's out there that can lead you astray.
