Space: the final frontier. These are the voyages of the starship Enterprise. Its continuing mission: to explore strange new worlds. To seek out new life and new civilizations. To boldly go where no one has gone before!
God is calling every one of us to go beyond anything that we have ever done before in our life!
God’s children are called to Big Things!
A big God’s children can’t possibly called to weenie things!
1 Corinthians 2:9 NKJV
9 But as it is written: “Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, Nor have entered into the heart of man The things which God has prepared for those who love Him.”
How many of us here already know that God has placed something HUGE in your heart - maybe...
Your heart is literally pregnant with the vision?
It can feel scary & uncertain, especially if don’t know what to do or even where to begin.
Don’t let fear stop you - be courageous!
Joshua 1:7 NKJV
7 Only be strong and very courageous, that you may observe to do according to all the law which Moses My servant commanded you; do not turn from it to the right hand or to the left, that you may prosper wherever you go.
Have a MASSIVE vision!
Set HUGE Goals with Jesus!
Big Hairy Audacious Goal (BHAG) forces a company or an organization to think big and create a plan for long-term success. It sets a huge goal that drives progress forward, defines a vision for the future, and gets everyone working toward achieving it.
-coined by Jim Collins and Jerry Porras in their book, Built to Last: Successful Habits of Visionary Companies
If your goals & vision don’t make you at least swallow hard, they aren’t big enough.

Some Examples of How God Does It:

God told Noah to build an Ark:

Genesis 6:14–16 NKJV
14 Make yourself an ark of gopherwood; make rooms in the ark, and cover it inside and outside with pitch. 15 And this is how you shall make it: The length of the ark shall be three hundred cubits, its width fifty cubits, and its height thirty cubits. 16 You shall make a window for the ark, and you shall finish it to a cubit from above; and set the door of the ark in its side. You shall make it with lower, second, and third decks.
The Bible doesn’t tell us if Noah had previous ship-building experience, or if he even knew what a cubit was!
God just told him to do it!

God Told Abraham to go find someplace:

Genesis 12:1 NKJV
1 Now the Lord had said to Abram: “Get out of your country, From your family And from your father’s house, To a land that I will show you.
Hebrews 11:8–10 NKJV
8 By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to the place which he would receive as an inheritance. And he went out, not knowing where he was going. 9 By faith he dwelt in the land of promise as in a foreign country, dwelling in tents with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him of the same promise; 10 for he waited for the city which has foundations, whose builder and maker is God.
Abraham didn’t know where he was going, but trusted that he would know it was the God-place when he got there.

God told Abraham & Sarah to make a baby when they were 100 years old and 90 years old respectively:

“Things” that used to work were no longer working & God knew that before He commanded them.
Apparently
God believed He was able to make Abraham & Sarah able!
Romans 4:18–22 NKJV
18 who, contrary to hope, in hope believed, so that he became the father of many nations, according to what was spoken, “So shall your descendants be.” 19 And not being weak in faith, he did not consider his own body, already dead (since he was about a hundred years old), and the deadness of Sarah’s womb. 20 He did not waver at the promise of God through unbelief, but was strengthened in faith, giving glory to God, 21 and being fully convinced that what He had promised He was also able to perform. 22 And therefore “it was accounted to him for righteousness.”
Abraham believed & obeyed God so much that he ignored the impossibilities of what God told him & Sarah to do.

Jesus Called Peter to walk on water:

Matthew 14:28–30 NKJV
28 And Peter answered Him and said, “Lord, if it is You, command me to come to You on the water.” 29 So He said, “Come.” And when Peter had come down out of the boat, he walked on the water to go to Jesus. 30 But when he saw that the wind was boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink he cried out, saying, “Lord, save me!”
Peter just wanted to be where Jesus was - so much so that he disregarded the fact that he didn’t know how to & physically could not walk on water.
How badly do you want to do what Jesus is doing and be where Jesus is?
Badly enough to do the impossible???
Knowing how to do something is overrated.
Proverbs 3:5–6 NKJV
5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; 6 In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.
Having access to The Ultimate Resource (The Holy Spirit) is invaluable.
1 John 2:27 NKJV
27 But the anointing which you have received from Him abides in you, and you do not need that anyone teach you; but as the same anointing teaches you concerning all things, and is true, and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you will abide in Him.
If God called us to do what we could do, we wouldn’t need Him and we wouldn’t need each other!
God’s glorious plan never includes us alone!

Some Practical Steps:

Hear God
Trust God
Obey God
• Boldly start moving so He can lead you
We can’t be led if we aren’t going anywhere.
• Be willing to shift course as often as, and however, He leads.
Don’t start off well and end poorly

Just One Thing:

You are created for Big Things - Don’t let anything stop you from God’s massive plan for your life!

Discussion Questions:

What big event do you think will happen soon that most people aren’t expecting?
Has God put something BIG in your heart to do with Him? If so, please share it with your group. If not, pray with your group to hear God’s BHAG for your life.
Please Read: Daniel 11:32 and Proverbs 3:5-6 and share what these verses mean to you and how you can personally apply them to your life now.
How have you typically approached big/seemingly-impossible things & things you didn’t know how to do? What take away did you have from this sermon that you can use & apply going into the future?
