Thank you for meeting on this beautiful day as we put Cindy in her final resting place here on earth. This means a lot to the family as we gather together we know that Cindy was very much loved and she will be deeply missed.
Here is a poem that Leonard gave me that moved him and yet brought great comfort in this very difficult time.
The Fallen Limb
A limb has fallen from the family tree.
I keep hearing a voice that says, "Grieve not for me"
Remember the best times, the laughter, the song.
The good life I lived while I was strong.
Continue my heritage, I'm counting on you.
Keep smiling and surely the sun will shine through.
My mind is at ease, my soul is at rest.
Remembering all, how I truly was blessed.
Continue traditions, no matter how small.
Go on with your life, don't worry about falls.
I miss you all dearly, so keep up your chin.
Until the day comes we're together again.
READ - INTRO:
Forasmuch as it has pleased Almighty God, in His wise providence, to take out of this world the soul of our sister, we therefore commit her body to the ground, earth to earth, ashes to ashes, dust to dust; looking for the resurrection at the last day, and the life of the world to come through our Lord Jesus Christ, as whose coming to judge the world the earth and the sea shall give up their dead; the bodies of those who sleep in HIM shall be changed and be made like His glorious body; according to that power by which HE is able to subdue all things unto HIMSELF.
Read Psalm 23 (KJV 1900)
1 The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures:
He leadeth me beside the still waters.
3 He restoreth my soul:
He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.
4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil: for thou art with me;
Thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies:
Thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life:
And I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.
— The Minister recites “The Lord’s Prayer”
Matthew 6:9-13 “Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name. 10 Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. 11 Give us this day our daily bread, 12 and forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. 13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.”
PRAY:
Almighty, we gather beside the grave today to lay to rest the body of our friend and loved one. We do so remembering another grave in another place - the tomb that receives the body of our Lord Jesus.
As Jesus came from the grave to live again, we know that all who died in HIM shall never truly die.
Father, help us to walk by faith and not by sight, with our trust in HIM who said, “I am the living one; I was dead, and behold I am alive forever and ever! And I hold the keys of death and Hades” Revelation 1:17, 18.
In Jesus name amen.
