A Heart In Love With The Lord Will Not Be A Heart Of Judgement
A Heart In Love With The Lord Will Not Be A Heart Of Judgement
11 For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God.
12 So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God.
13 Let us not therefore judge one another any more: but judge this rather, that no man put a stumblingblock or an occasion to fall in his brother’s way.
2 For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.
Indications of A Judgmental Spirit
Love:
6 Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth;
Why would we share the failures of others -that’s judgment
If I cannot forgvive, I am judging
God said he will turn us over to tormentors if we will not forgive
We have a choice to be judgmental or discerning
Evidences of us Losing our First Love
When Jesus is our first love we will not be judgmental
Scorning, criticism are evidences of Losing
When The Lord does not have first place in my life
my affection for someone is more than for the Lord I have lost my first love
30 And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment.
We cannot delight more in someone else more than the Lord
Is the Lord first in my thoughts
In my priorities
In my emotions
In my time
anything else is an idol
33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
Is the Lord 1st
A divided heart will be a hurt heart
2. When my heart does not desire extended times of intimate fellowship with the Lord.
30 And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment.
Soul = mind, will, emotion
God is jealous over you
1 As the hart panteth after the water brooks, So panteth my soul after thee, O God.
1 O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: My soul thirsteth for thee, My flesh longeth for thee In a dry and thirsty land, where no water is;
2 To see thy power and thy glory, So as I have seen thee in the sanctuary.
97 MEM. O how love I thy law! It is my meditation all the day.
Do you long for God
If you can go extended amounts of time without hearing from God, without sitting at Jesus feet, your heart is away from the Lord
Don’t go out into the world if you haven’t gone into your prayer closet
165 Great peace have they which love thy law: And nothing shall offend them.
When we aren’t spending time loving and learning from the word of God
When we aren’t taking time to be comforted by the Holy Spirit in our walk with God - we will get agitated with the failures and inconsistencies of others
Who was the last person you were offended by
Judging another person’s inconsistency
Their hypocrisy
3. I have lost my first love when during moments of leisure my thoughts to not meditate on the Lord.
Where does your mind go when in time of leisure
Where does your mind go after work
Where does your mind go when you have nothing to do
Our 11th wedding anniversary is tomorrow
I want to spend time with her
how much of our thought life is focusing on the temporal things of life
games
movies
money
Love with all your mind
All of our thoughts are rooted in Him and therefore bring forth fruit from that energy and stable relationship
Worry does not come from a place of meditating on God’s love and care for you
Fear does not come from a mind that is meditating on God’s omnipotence and the power He gave you through Christ’s finished work
A heart of condemnation and judgement and criticism does not come from a mind that understands God is the avenger of wrongs and hurts and trespasses.
An unforgiving mind has not been meditating on the Saviour that cried Father forgive them for they know not what they do
A mind filled with impurity and moral filthiness has not been meditating on the holiness and purity of the Lord
30 And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment.
Your mind
3 Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, Whose mind is stayed on thee: Because he trusteth in thee.
Mental disturbance
Stayed = rests, puts all it’s weight, finds all it’s sustaining power
Set your affections on things above
You cannot lay up any heavenly treasures, no eternal rewards if your mind cannot be stayed on Him.
7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.
9 Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you.
A troubled mind is a result of a mind that is not stayed on Jesus
Troubled lives are a result of a life not yielded to following in Christ’s footsteps
Not following what we have learned about Christ brings trouble
Not following what we have recieved in Christ brings trouble
Not following what we have heard of Christ brings trouble
Not following what we have seen other faithful examples that are following Christ brings trouble
We give our mind to
If our mind is stayed on Jesus we won’t need the distraction this world provides that undermines and steals the peace that God has provided for us.
3 My heart was hot within me, While I was musing the fire burned: Then spake I with my tongue,
Muse on the Lord
Think about his marvelous works
Think about His character
Think about all He’s given you
Movies

TikTok
Steals your ability to muse
Meditate
dream
think
4. When we excuse our actions because we are just human
Greater is he that is in you than he that is in the world
30 And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment.
Strength = energy or might
Jesus gave everything for us
We worship and honor The Lord by giving all our strength to serve Him
37 Then saith he unto his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few;
38 Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest.
Laborers = workers
Gifts, talents, energy has been given to us to serve Him.
6 Greet Mary, who bestowed much labour on us.
12 Salute Tryphena and Tryphosa, who labour in the Lord. Salute the beloved Persis, which laboured much in the Lord.
God gave us energy to serve Him
We will be rewarded for labor
9 Wherefore we labour, that, whether present or absent, we may be accepted of him.
10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.
11 Knowing therefore the terror of the Lord, we persuade men; but we are made manifest unto God; and I trust also are made manifest in your consciences.
We labor
A Judgment seat
What we do is important
58 Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.
Every Christian should be doing something in the body of Christ
10 For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love, which ye have shewed toward his name, in that ye have ministered to the saints, and do minister.
When you serve saints you will be rewarded
12 Epaphras, who is one of you, a servant of Christ, saluteth you, always labouring fervently for you in prayers, that ye may stand perfect and complete in all the will of God.
This work perfects us
5. Not giving willingly and cheerfully to the Lord’s work and to help others in their time of need is evidence that I am not loving the Lord how I should.
7 Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.
8 And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work:
How have you purposed?
When our heart is in love with the Lord God will increase our ability to give to every good work.
45 Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me.
What are you doing to help others?
I’m so thankful for the bus ministry
I’m so thankful for the nursing home ministry
Children’s classes
there will be no excuse on judgment day
45 Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me.
That’s convicting
Who are we not willing to love
If we love Jesus we will love people
14 What doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works? can faith save him?
15 If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food,
16 And one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be ye warmed and filled; notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body; what doth it profit?
If I see someone that needs something and I have it
It’s not my job to judge, it’s my job to allow the Lord to make me like Jesus
17 But whoso hath this world’s good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him?
If we love the Lord we will love people that we would normally judge in our flesh Adam nature.
