2 Peter 1:12–15 ESV
Therefore I intend always to remind you of these qualities, though you know them and are established in the truth that you have. I think it right, as long as I am in this body, to stir you up by way of reminder, since I know that the putting off of my body will be soon, as our Lord Jesus Christ made clear to me. And I will make every effort so that after my departure you may be able at any time to recall these things.

1. God’s Word is all sufficient – 2 Peter 1:3

“It gives us all things that pertain to life and godliness”
It tells us how to obtain spiritual life - Eph.2:1;5
Ephesians 2:1 NKJV
And you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins,
Ephesians 2:5 ESV
even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved—
It tells us how to live a godly life - Titus 1:1
Titus 1:1 ESV
Paul, a servant of God and an apostle of Jesus Christ, for the sake of the faith of God’s elect and their knowledge of the truth, which accords with godliness,
The Scriptures Make Us Complete - 2 Tim.3:16-17
2 Timothy 3:16–17 ESV
All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.
Then I must reject anything different

2. The Christian life is a life of growth – 2 Peter 1:5-10

We Should Be Adding to Our Faith - 2 Peter 1:5-7
2 Peter 1:5–7 ESV
For this very reason, make every effort to supplement your faith with virtue, and virtue with knowledge, and knowledge with self-control, and self-control with steadfastness, and steadfastness with godliness, and godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love.
It is important
“give all diligence” (NKJV), “make every effort” (ESV), “do your level best” (Williams)
“be even more diligent” - v.10
If we continue to grow then an entrance will be supplied into heaven - v.11
There Is Never a Point When We Can Say We Are Perfect (no room for growth)
1 Thess 4:10 (Increase more and more)
1 Thessalonians 4:10 ESV
for that indeed is what you are doing to all the brothers throughout Macedonia. But we urge you, brothers, to do this more and more,
Philippians 3:12–14 ESV
Not that I have already obtained this or am already perfect, but I press on to make it my own, because Christ Jesus has made me his own. Brothers, I do not consider that I have made it my own. But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.
If I give up I will fall

3. There is a judgement day coming – 2 Peter 3

They were denying the Lord’s return – 2 Peter 3:3-4
2 Peter 3:3–4 ESV
knowing this first of all, that scoffers will come in the last days with scoffing, following their own sinful desires. They will say, “Where is the promise of his coming? For ever since the fathers fell asleep, all things are continuing as they were from the beginning of creation.”
·Those Who Deny the Lord’s Return Deliberately Overlook This Fact
God created this world by his word - v.5
He destroyed the world by a flood - v.7
Time does not mean anything to God - v.8
God is not slow in keeping his word but he is patient - v.9
The Day of the Lord WILL COME - v.10
You Must Live in View of the Judgment Day - vv.11-13
Are You Ready for the Judgment Day?

Conclusion:

We need to be Reminded:
God’s word is all sufficient
The Christian life is a life of growth
There is a judgement day coming
