TEXT: 1 Chronicles 28 & 29
Intro: Now, we believe that God’s Word has the power to speak to us in any situation (?)…at any time and in any way that He chooses.
This is a message particularly for our church members from me as your pastor.
I really felt led of God to share this with you today…Next week, we’re going to be having a very special guest that I hope you’ll be here for - Dr. Jeff Iorg.
Then, on November 20, we’re going to begin our Advent series - 7 weeks in the OT book of Micah.
NOTES
This isn’t a message primarily about a building or a building debt.
This message is about barriers and faith.
Verses 1-2 - David gathers all of the leadership of Israel.
“It was in David’s heart.”
I believe that God put this desire in his heart.
Was David allowed to see the end result?
No.
There was too much blood on his hands.
The point is this - God may put a God-sized vision on your heart that you may never see the end result of.
But, you know what?
That didn’t stop David from giving sacrificially.
Now, watch what happens…David, as the shepherd of Israel—their King—has a God-sized vision in his heart.
Something that would require God-sized faith.
Then he goes to the leaders, calls them together, shares this vision with them, they buy in and they give sacrificially, then all of Israel responds.
The task is great because the building will not be built for a human but for the LORD God.
The task is great - this is God-sized.
**I want us to focus on what lies beyond this barrier of debt.
Do we know 100% what God is going to put on our hearts to do? No. I’ll tell you for one thing, there are parts of our campus in need of some serious attention/repair.
Here’s the point I’m trying to make - while we see the debt as a barrier to greater things (ministry, etc), there’s an even greater barrier — our lack of faith.
