A Godly Lady

Titus 2:3–5 NKJV
the older women likewise, that they be reverent in behavior, not slanderers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things— that they admonish the young women to love their husbands, to love their children, to be discreet, chaste, homemakers, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God may not be blasphemed.
Here in Titus, the ladies are charged with the duties of:

A. Reverence B. Not Slanderous C. Sober-minded- prone to side with the devil and oppose God, Falsely accusing God D. Teachers of good things E. Discreet- sound mind F. Chaste- pure G. Guarder of the home- Coming from the Greek word Oikourgos- meaning guard H. Obedient to their own husbands

The word here used as admonish is translated as sober in the KJV. However, both words fall short of providing the depth of the Greek word.
In Greek, the word is Sophronizosin
This word means to teach, admonish, and restore to a state of mind.

Responsibilities

1. Teach

To intentionally impart knowledge and wisdom.
To provide instruction based on personal experience and acquired information that has been tested and proved.

2. Admonish

A. Exhort
To encourage through true love and desire to see God glorified.
Be careful not to overstep boundaries or to impersonate the Holy Spirit.
B. Warm
Provide a vivid picture of the consequences that await those who go against God’s plan.

3. Restore

We should seek to restore those who have failed.
Our goal as believers should always be to display the love of Christ.
However, there must be a turning from sin.
John 8:1-11

DUTIES

1. To love God

The first responsibility of every person is to love God.
Matthew 22:37 NKJV
Jesus said to him, “ ‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’

A. Obeying God

John 14:21 NKJV
He who has My commandments and keeps them, it is he who loves Me. And he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and manifest Myself to him.”

B. Trusting Him

1 John 4:18 KJV 1900
There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.

2. To love their Husbands

This order of responsibility is further demonstrated in Eph
Ephesians 5:25 NKJV
Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her,
Here we see that God has pictured the love between the husband and wife as that of Jesus and the church.
Jesus loved God first and foremost but then loved the church.

A. By faithfulness to your husband

B. By Guarding your home.

3. To love their children

Psalm 127:3–4 NKJV
Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord, The fruit of the womb is a reward. Like arrows in the hand of a warrior, So are the children of one’s youth.

A. By teaching them the Bible.

Ephesians 6:4 NKJV
And you, fathers, do not provoke your children to wrath, but bring them up in the training and admonition of the Lord.

B. By pouring ourselves into them.

Proverbs 22:6 NKJV
Train up a child in the way he should go, And when he is old he will not depart from it.
