Once we fall out of love with the Lord we begin
Falling out of love with the Lord is evidenced by living a life that is independant from God
Dependance
Pride = Self sufficiency is the root
Romans 14:10–13 KJV 1900
10 But why dost thou judge thy brother? or why dost thou set at nought thy brother? for we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ. 11 For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God. 12 So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God. 13 Let us not therefore judge one another any more: but judge this rather, that no man put a stumblingblock or an occasion to fall in his brother’s way.
God allows us to fall in the very areas that we judge others
Matthew 7:2 KJV 1900
2 For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.
6. When I treat some Christians better than others. Favoritism in the family of God is an evidence of a cooling love for the Lord.
1 John 5:1–3 (KJV 1900)
1 Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God: and every one that loveth him that begat loveth him also that is begotten of him.
2 By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments.
3 For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.
Everyone in the family of God is of value in the Kingdom.
Ephesians 1:15 KJV 1900
15 Wherefore I also, after I heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus, and love unto all the saints,
That church loves each other...
John 13:34 KJV 1900
34 A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.
Jesus’ capacity to love is unfathomable, how can you comprehend that amount of love - love one another as I have loved you
Matthew 25:40 KJV 1900
40 And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.
Everyone who is saved is a saint - a love for all saints
Philemon 5 KJV 1900
5 hearing of thy love and faith, which thou hast toward the Lord Jesus, and toward all saints;
The type of love that is noted by others
If we cease to treat others like we would the Lord himself
7. If I view The Lord’s commands as burdens rather than expressions
of His love and protection, I am not loving the Lord with all my heart.
John 14:21 KJV 1900
21 He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.
Viewing God’s commandments as restrictive hinderances is not an attitude and spirit of love.
Obedience is a proof of love
Loving our authority is proven in obedience
Pleasing parents is an act of love towards parents
1 John 5:1–3 (KJV 1900)
1 Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God: and every one that loveth him that begat loveth him also that is begotten of him.
2 By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments.
3 For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.
Romans 7:22 KJV 1900
22 For I delight in the law of God after the inward man:
An evidence of salvation is loving the law in the inward man
Pleasing parents is a delight when you love them
Pleasing God is a delight when you are loving Him
Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves is not grievous when we are loving the Lord
8. Working for acceptance and approval from the world above seeking approval from the Lord is an evidence of heart that is cold in love for the Lord.
1 John 2:15 KJV 1900
15 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.
Loving the world is evidence of lack of love for the Father
Galatians 1:10 KJV 1900
10 For do I now persuade men, or God? or do I seek to please men? for if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ.
John 15:19 KJV 1900
19 If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.
As the world unravels, Christians are not highly esteemed
As the commencement of time comes, Christians will be persecuted
Someone closing the door on you
Someone shutting you down as you preach the gospel
Someone not accepting
Do you find yourself not praising the Lord?
9. If I fear persecution more than I desire Christ and the Gospel being known, my heart does not love God the way it should.
I was talking to someone today and I said “I am hoping and praying" as we talked to each other about a certain issue.
I realized I was talking to an unsaved person most likely
Gave them a gospel invite card
I couldn’t not share the Gospel with them...
Are you willing to speak of the Lord
Mark 8:38 KJV 1900
38 Whosoever therefore shall be ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation; of him also shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he cometh in the glory of his Father with the holy angels.
John 15:20 KJV 1900
20 Remember the word that I said unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept my saying, they will keep yours also.
What happened to the Lord will happen to Christians
Romans 9:33 KJV 1900
33 As it is written, Behold, I lay in Sion a stumblingstone and rock of offence: and whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.
Hundreds and hundreds are dying for the Lord Jesus and His witness
Romans 1:16 KJV 1900
16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.
Romans 10:11 KJV 1900
11 For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.
1 Peter 4:16 KJV 1900
16 Yet if any man suffer as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God on this behalf.
Philippians 1:20 KJV 1900
20 According to my earnest expectation and my hope, that in nothing I shall be ashamed, but that with all boldness, as always, so now also Christ shall be magnified in my body, whether it be by life, or by death.
2 Timothy 1:8 KJV 1900
8 Be not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner: but be thou partaker of the afflictions of the gospel according to the power of God;
2 Timothy 1:12 KJV 1900
12 For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.
When the Lord leads you to share the Gospel with someone and we hesitate
1 John 2:28 KJV 1900
28 And now, little children, abide in him; that, when he shall appear, we may have confidence, and not be ashamed before him at his coming.
Eternal security is a fact for every believer
10. Continuing in activities that offend another Christian is evidence of a lack of love for Jesus.
Romans 14:15 KJV 1900
15 But if thy brother be grieved with thy meat, now walkest thou not charitably. Destroy not him with thy meat, for whom Christ died.
The Lost watch Christians
Other Christians watch Christians
Do we say things that hurt others
Are we involved in conversations that could cause another to stumble
If something causes another to be discouraged in their walk with Jesus
Matthew 5:13–16 KJV 1900
13 Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men. 14 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. 15 Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. 16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.
Preaching the Gospel in every neighborhood
Being kind with our words when speaking at the church
11. When sin ceases to bother me
Matthew 24:12 KJV 1900
12 And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.
Entertainment - violence
A horrible desensitization
Complacency
Psalm 101:3–4 KJV 1900
3 I will set no wicked thing before mine eyes: I hate the work of them that turn aside; it shall not cleave to me. 4 A froward heart shall depart from me: I will not know a wicked person.
Perverse and Distorted = Forward
12. When I cannot forgive someone who has offended me, I lack love for the Lord
Ephesians 4:32 KJV 1900
32 And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.
