Do You Meet the Requirements for the Grand Prix?
Everyone that is racing a car today had to meet certain requirements:
1. Purchase a car kit ($13)
2. Design and Build your car.
3. Make sure it was within the weight limit.
4. Bring it here this morning!
5. Check in at the weigh-in table.
6. Make any needed weight adjustments.
7. Race!
Many people believe that gaining eternal life is much like winning the Grand Prix.
Many believe that one must meet a long list of requirements in order to “win” or to earn everlasting life.
Be a “good” person.
Go to church
Give money to needy
Be kind
Be baptized
Take communion
Never steal, kill, or swear
Many more…
The problem is that none of these things are given to us in the Bible as the ways to gain eternal life or to go to heaven when we die.
The truth is that we are all sinners and cannot save ourselves:
Romans 6:23a (NKJV)
For the wages of sin is death…
You see even one sin makes us a sinner - and there’s not enough good things in this life that we can do to make that sin “disappear”.
So, while you might meet the requirements for the Grand Prix today, nothing we can do will ever meet the requirements for gaining eternal life.
Romans 6:23 (NKJV)
For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
God never gives eternal life as a payment for what we do, He gives it as a gift…a FREE gift.
It’s all because of Jesus!
Jesus met God’s requirements.
It is finished!
God’s only requirement for eternal life is FAITH!
