The Greatest Lesson of History

Will Durant was one of the most influential historians in the 20th century. He published a series of eleven huge volumes titled The Story of Civilization. In addition, he wrote other volumes on history and philosophy.

Someone once asked him: "Dr. Durant, you have written great volumes of history in your lifetime. What has history taught you?" Will Durant answered, "I can sum it all up in three words — 2000 years of history in three words — love one another. . .. Love is the most powerful and most practical thing in the world."
