Ephesians 4:25–32
Ephesians 4:25–32 AV 1873
Wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbour: for we are members one of another. Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath: neither give place to the devil. Let him that stole steal no more: but rather let him labour, working with his hands the thing which is good, that he may have to give to him that needeth. Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers. And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption. Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice: and be ye kind one to another, tender hearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.
25 Wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbour: for we are members one of another. 26 Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath: 27 Neither give place to the devil. 28 Let him that stole steal no more: but rather let him labour, working with his hands the thing which is good, that he may have to give to him that needeth. 29 Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers. 30 And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption. 31 Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice: 32 And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.
This text gives us the principle of putting off actions and thought processes that are self-glorifying, self-gratifying, and make sense humanly but will end leaving you empty, bitter, rage-filled life. And replacing these with thoughts and actions that are God honoring, Christ-centered, and faith fulfilling which leave you completed, joy filled, and productive for the Kingdom of God.

Actions that are Counter Christ are Pro Sin!

“If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it. The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the people from the political, economic and/or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth is the greatest enemy of the State.”- attributed to Joseph Goebbels Nazi District leader of Berlin
Walter C. Langer reported in his Psychological Analysis of Adolf Hitler in 1943,
“His primary rules were: never allow the public to cool off; never admit a fault or wrong; never concede that there may be some good in your enemy; never leave room for alternatives; never accept blame; concentrate on one enemy at a time and blame him for everything that goes wrong; people will believe a big lie sooner than a little one; and if you repeat it frequently enough people will sooner or later believe it.”
Lying, Wrath, Theft, Corrupt Communication (not in good condition; unsound and useless).
Proverbs 6:16–19 AV 1873
These six things doth the Lord hate: Yea, seven are an abomination unto him: A proud look, a lying tongue, And hands that shed innocent blood, A heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, Feet that be swift in running to mischief, A false witness that speaketh lies, And he that soweth discord among brethren.
Paul summarizes these actions and thought processes in verse 31
Ephesians 4:31
31 Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice:

Bitterness: resentment, to be terribly envious.

Proverbs 5:4 “But her end is bitter as wormwood, Sharp as a twoedged sword.”
Hebrews 12:15 “looking diligently lest any man ||fail of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and thereby many be defiled;”

Wrath: a feeling of intense anger.

Anger: A feeling of intense anger that does not subside; often on an epic scale.

Clamour: An understandable shout - a loud utterance. Shout; weeping, scream.

Evil speaking: is the word blasphemia; to slander with abusive words falsely spoken that damage a person’s reputation.

Malice: depravity, the perverting of virtue and moral principles from their purposes to evil ends.

Romans 10:3
Romans 10:3 AV 1873
For they being ignorant of God’s righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God.
3 For they being ignorant of God’s righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God.
Romans 3:10 “as it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:”
Romans 3:10 AV 1873
as it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:
The morality of the Pharisees was an offence to God because they tried to create God’s infinite righteousness with their finite ability.

Actions and Thoughts that are Pro-Christ are Counter Sin!

Completed

And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power:

Colossians 2:15
Colossians 2:15 AV 1873
and having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.
15 And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.

Joy filled

Psalm 4 “Hear me when I call, O God of my righteousness: Thou hast enlarged me when I was in distress; ||Have mercy upon me, and hear my prayer. O ye sons of men, how long will ye turn my glory into shame? How long will ye love vanity, and seek after leasing? Selah. But know that the Lord hath set apart him that is godly for himself: The Lord will hear when I call unto him. Stand in awe, and sin not: Commune with your own heart upon your bed, and be still. Selah. Offer the sacrifices of righteousness, And put your trust in the Lord. There be many that say, Who will shew us any good? Lord, lift thou up the light of thy countenance upon us. Thou hast put gladness in my heart, More than in the time that their corn and their wine increased. I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: For thou, Lord, only makest me dwell in safety.”

Christ Centered

Colossians 3:3
Colossians 3:3 AV 1873
For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.
3 For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.
