We are going to start a series that starts with King David and leads all the way to Christ
Matthew 1:1-6 David the King to Jesus
How did this come to be?
How did God work through all these kings?
How do we see Christ in all these kings as they sat on the throne of David as a forerunner to Jesus?
In every sermon we want to see Christ!
2 Samuel 7 God’s promise to David
God establishes man, man does not establish God
A true heart of worship
A true heart of worship
David is a man after God’s own heart (1 Samuel 13:14) verse 1
He replaced Saul as king because Saul would not obey God and therefore did not bring rest to the nation of Israel
Two times Saul failed, first time he did not kill all the animals of the defeated country, second time he did not wait for Samuel to offer a sacrifice before battle
David’s victory and national peace are because of his relationship with God
He trusted God in battle before he became king when he fought Goliath
It was this heart for God that gave him the desire to build a temple to God (verse 2-3)
2 Samuel 6:14 David dances with all his might
Nathan knowing the heart of David gave him permission to move forward
Because of David’s love for God he made big plans for God, but God had bigger plans
