Mr. & Mrs. Average have two children decide to visit with Northview. As they pull into the parking lot they notice the nice well kept facility (Jim Roberts – Building and Grounds) and gives a sense of welcome as they park.
As they enter the glass doors they are greeted with a handshake and smiles, and are provided with all the information they need to feel comfortable as they fill out their visitor cards (Lynn – Greeters), and someone even leads and assists them in finding the classes for the entire family.
All the Average family enjoy their class times, the kids are excited and immediately ask if they can return next week for something special the teacher is planning (Youth/Education- Rich White, Scott Powell, David Shuping).
As they worship they are impressed by the involvement of so many men of the church (Assembly Management). Following services Mr. & Mrs. Hospitality invited them out to eat, but they had other plans and after meeting several people and talking a while they leave feeling special and well received.
They are shocked on Monday afternoon when a member of Northview knocks on their door and drops off a little packet of information and expresses their appreciation for visiting. On Tuesday they are surprised once again as they go through the mail to find a letter from the church thanking them for their visit and inviting them to come back next week. On Thursday evening they received a brief phone call from the hospitality family and were invited to attend a special class that Sunday morning with them. The class was an introduction to Northview class, but the Hospitality family said they needed to be refreshed on some things about the church and would love to go with them to the class. On Saturday they receive another brief call from Mrs. Hospitality just as a reminded and she said they would meet them in the parking lot. (Matt McReynolds)
Sure enough on Sunday morning they pull up into the parking lot and there are the Hospitalities waiting. They enjoy the class that morning and even meet another couple attending the class. Following services that morning Mr. & Mrs. Group invite them to their home for small groups that night. They were unsure at that moment, but they end up going out to eat with both the Hospitalities and the Groups families. After lunch they agreed to attend and got directions and the details. They really enjoyed the night, and left the day feeling a newness about their life because they had met so many nice people. There must be something special about this church they thought as they drove home.
After a few weeks the Average family had made new friends, and upon completing the intro class they had attended with the Hospitalities they decided they wanted to become Christians and be a part of God’s family at Northview. They were baptized one Sunday morning, and the next week they were invited over to someone’s house to share a meal and a study. In fact this happened each week for several weeks and they learned more about God and what He expected and what He freely gave to them. They also met other families they had not been able to spend any time with. They were also given a gifts assessment test, and it appeared that Mr. & Mrs. Average both had interest in the area of hospitality. They spoke with several ministry leaders and finely determined to host a small group in their home. Eventually Mr. Average became a wonderful group leader.
