All my words fall short I got nothing new How could I express All my gratitude?
- Brandon Lake from Gratitude
Introduction: Prayer is vital to everything that we do as Christians. In trying times, we will devote ourselves to prayer. It is so very important that every Christian recognizes this in their own life.
How do we learn to devote ourselves to a proper prayer life?
ACTS – Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving, Supplication
Great method even though it is not the only method.
Adoration – Tell God who He is. (10%)
A deep love and respect in regards to worship.
We find ourselves in His holy presence and we simply respond.

1. Realize his magnitude (Isaiah 6:1-7)

God’s majesty was incredible to Isaiah.
He had a “theophany” – a visible manifestation of God. Earthquakes, smoke, fire, and lightning
Lord – Adonai, meaning sovereign. Vision is not seen from the temple in Jerusalem but a heavenly temple.
Seraphim – Angels that covered their face from God, covered their feet to show modesty, and flew to do the Sovereign God’s will. Their entire job is to praise Him.
Holy, holy, holy. – A three-fold repetiion is the strongest sort of praise. Nothing is as holy as God.
God’s glory scared Isaiah. He was so nervous that he put a curse upon himself.
i. The alter from which the live coal is taken stresses the purification necessary for approaching god. The altar symbolizes purification by blood, and the fire, purification by the Spirit. The blood of Christ and the ministry of the Holy Spirit sanctify believers today.
1. God purified the lips of Isaiah to minister. Isaiah felt unworthy. God made Him worthy.
Almost drowning at T-Ball Party.
God’s glory is more than we can handle. We must realize who we are talking to.

2. Long for His presence. (Psalm 42:1-2)

A powerful description of the deep desire for God’s presence. Due to Jesus’ redemptive work on the cross, the Christian has access to the Lord in prayer The psalmist desires to return to the temp and the assurance of God’s life-giving presence.
A deer has no option but the stream.
In drought, the deer longs for the water.
Love language for Tricia is quality time.
We need God’s presence in our life.
3. Ask to be with Him. (Psalm 27:4)
The primary issue in David’s life was to be with God in His sanctuary.
House of the Lord – The place where God’s presence is manifest is a place of sanctuary from the enemy.
David wanted one thing.
To be with Him.
What is the one thing I need from God?
Have a yearning heart that desires God.
Adoration – Tell God who He is. (10 %)
