(Matthew 7:13-14)
1. Illustration: On every quest there is a bridge with a troll where you must
answer his questions to pass.
2. Our journey to heaven is a long road.
3. However, before we reach our heavenly home there will be some
questions we will need to answer
4. Today I want to ponder what three questions we will be asked when we get
to the narrow gate.
Body: I. What were you called?
A. Illustration: Jesus asking.
B. We are to be called Christians but is that what others are seeing in our lives? (John 13:34-35; Matthew 5:14-16)
C. Paul lived a former life of persecuting the church but because of his change in not only word but deed he was able to glorify God. (Galatians 1:13-16,22-24)
II. What were you doing?
A. Illustration: Jesus asking.
B. We are called to go to the world and teach others but how many of us are well studied enough to teach others? (2 Timothy 2:15; Matthew 28:18-20)
C. Once Paul had learned the gospel, he dedicated the rest of his life to preaching and teaching the gospel of Christ. (Acts 9:20)
III. What were you seeking?
A. Illustration: Jesus asking.
B. We are supposed to be seeking righteousness but are we still living in sin? (Romans 6:1,2, 16, 17)
C. Paul kept the faith until the very end of his life. (2 Timothy 4:6-8)
Conclusion: 1. So the question today is what are you going to answer Jesus?
2. Do others recognize us as Christians?
3. Are we teaching others about Christ?
4. Are we truly seeking after righteousness?
