Summary of verses 1-6
This is Paul’s 2nd missionary journey - go preach, start churches there, move on to the next city, but keep in touch with the churches he started
Paul travels to Corinth (think 1 and 2 Corinthians) met with some other church leaders, Aquila, Priscilla.
Made tents during the week to make ends meet, and preached on the Sabbath at the local synagogue
When Silas and Timothy made it down it down, he went to full time ministry (either they brought money or worked to sustain him)
Age old question - should a pastor work an outside job too (pastoring is a job)
answer - if he has to in order to make ends meet, but it would be better to focus on ministry full time
Overall, the Jewish people did not accept the gospel (even though the leader of the synagogue and his household did), so he told them he would focus on the gentiles, and many gentiles got.
The Lord told Paul he was going to protect him, and Paul stayed in Corinth a year and a half
after that the Jewish people who did not believe stirred up trouble, but the authorities did not want to deal with a “Jewish” problem.
So the Jews took matters into their own hands and beat some Christians
Paul stayed some more days, but then felt it was time to leave
Aquila and Priscilla came with him and they traveled through Cenchrea, Ephesus (Ephesians) Aquila and Priscilla stayed in Ephesus, Caesarea . . . and finally back to Jerusalem (mother church) and then to Antioch (home church) . . . and then revisited some of the churches he started
Meanwhile back in Ephesus a very talented and knowledgable teacher named Apollos was teaching about Jesus, but he didn’t know the whole story. Aquila and Prascilla mfilled him in on the full story.
he became a powerful teacher/preacher/scholar for christians
