One man’s questions
“I’ve worked all my life
this house and landscape - put years into it.
I’ve been a good Christian
I’ve taken care of my neighbors
And for what?
One man’s questions
…Everything I’ve build has been swept away.
My neighbors, my neighborhood, it’s all gone.
Why did God let this happen to us?”
God wants something better for us,
than we could want for ourselves
We go through trials to participate in Christ:
sharing his name to others, and receiving the
benefits of his name place upon us.
1 Cor 3:12-15
If anyone builds on this foundation using
gold, silver, costly stones, wood, hay or
straw, 13 their work will be shown for what it
is, because the Day will bring it to light.
It
will be revealed with fire, and the fire will
test the quality of each person’s work.
14 If what has been built survives, the
builder will receive a reward.
15 If it is
burned up, the builder will suffer loss but yet
will be saved—even though only as one
escaping through the flames.
Discussing the end time
Luke 21:5 Some of his disciples were
remarking about how the temple was adorned
with beautiful stones and with gifts dedicated
to God.
But Jesus said, 6 “As for what you
see here, the time will come when not one
stone will be left on another; every one of
them will be thrown down.”
Luke 21:7 “Teacher,” they asked, “when will
these things happen?
And what will be the
sign that they are about to take place?”
Jesus wasn’t preaching
a timetable
He was turning his disciples world right side up!
Is the end time soon?

The end time test: “the Day will bring it to light”
When is the end time?
How about – when is your end time?
You’ll be tested, and for what?
Luke 21:8 He replied: “Watch out that you are
not deceived.
For many will come in my
name, claiming, ‘I am he,’ and, ‘The time is
near.’
Do not follow them.
9 When you hear of
wars and uprisings, do not be frightened.
These things must happen first, but the end
will not come right away.”
C.S. Lewis, writing on:
Matt 24:34 ‘this generation
shall not pass till all these
things be done.’
Said: It is certainly the most
embarrassing verse in the
Bible.
Matt 24:36 But about that
day or hour no one knows,
not even the angels in
heaven, nor the Son, but
only the Father..
● Preterism – all Olivet and Revelation
prophecies ere fulfilled in the 1st century
● Futurism – all of the prophecies are for a
much later end-time
● Moderate preterism – some were for the
1st century, some for the future
CGI holds to “Moderate preterism”
● The temple’s ruin came to pass
● His second coming is future, at a time “no
man knows, not even the son”
