The “MANLY” COMMANDMENTS: 10 NON-NEGOTIABLE’s FOR EVERY MAN.

(Boil it all down to this kind of message: GIVE IT TO ME STRAIGHT!)
PREMISE: There are some things …..To me these are the STANDARDS set for us in SCRIPTURE. SO I anted to give us what I believe are the NOT NEGOTIABLES given to us by God as see them all through scripture.
I believe we see them exampled in the men we read and know about, the Heroes of faith:
Abraham, Noah, Moses, Job, David, Peter, James, John, Paul, Timothy, Barnabas….and I could go on
But what if we just BOILED IT DOWN TO some things that I believe were all called to AS MEN.…….
A man is called by God….

1.To Love God.

Our number one job is to love God. To REALLY Pursue JESUS for ourselves.
How do we accomplish this:
Spiritual disciplines:
Bible reading / Prayer / Worship/ Fasting / Silence & Solitude
When is the last time you “went away” with the Lord. Just YOU and HIM. Went for a walk. Went and sat on the beach and closed your eyes, or found a quiet space in the woods and closed your eyes and said “hi Lord…. Its just you and me… im here for you”
We have to be of this is NOT negotiable. This is WHO we are.
Here is another one: Do you sing?
You might think thats a silly question. But do you sing to GOD? Do your family and your kids HEAR you singing to GOD?
2 Samuel 22:1–2 (NLT)
David sang this song to the Lord on the day the Lord rescued him from all his enemies and from Saul. He sang:
“The Lord is my rock, my fortress, and my savior;
There is JUST something about SINGING to God. That matters. do you sing at church?
Sometimes I think its important that we just sing: there is why, Were LETTING GO
Dont you agree? Sometimes I HOLD back because I dont want to LET GOD.
Thats why SINGING is so important for a man!
But God loves or singing, He loves our hearts being open and connected to HIM because our HIGHEST calling is to LOVE GOD

2.To love People.

To LOVE GOD - but also LOVE PEOPLE
This is SIMPLY a NOT Negotiable for a MAN. A Godly MAN. To love PEOPLE.
do you love people well.?
let me ask it in a different way: Do you take care of people? Do you Love PEOPLE. You dont have to LOVE ALOT of PEOPLE - JUST THE ONES that GOD NEEDS YOU TO!
Do you have a passion for strangers to come to church?. For the lost to come home. For the everyday ordinary person to walk into a place just like this and say: WOW. Yes. I need this and you step in and say hi and connect and encourage them to pursue GOD. This is our calling as men. TO LOVE PEOPLE.
To hear of someone having a tough time and not leaving it to our wives to send a meal - but what could we do? As aMEN who LOVE GOD and PEOPLE?

3.To Love His wife

Some of you have been married twice as long as you i have (ive been married 16 years)
some of you have been married before
Some of you have been married maybe a couple of times
Some of you have not been married - Your single and your believing for God to give you your life’s partner:
We are called by GOD to pursue and Love passionately one woman for our entire lives.
(Now I understand that there may be guys in here that had gone through separation and divorce. This is obviously a place where we show grace and know His grace will help us but that DOES not DIMINISH the truth of Gods word AT ALL. Its GOD INTENDED plan for you to have one wife… and no strife!)
Can I level with you all - its more than enough to have one wife. To have a good marriage, Its a joy but a healthy and blessed marriage is MORE than enough work for ONE MAN. Thats why WE DONT JUST HAVE one of us or two of us but 3 of us. We need God.
WHY ON EARTH WOULD I SEEK ANOTHER RELATIONSHIP?
serioulsy though - Why do guys do that?
I believe its because they haven’t got a revelation yet that God has just ONE, its his will for you life - that should be A NOT NEGOTIABLE.
HIS WILL IS NOT NEGOTIABLE!
(IF HE WILLS IT, HE WILL MAKE A WAY FOR IT)
The Bible talks about our wives in a unique way.
That they are WILLED by God in the beginning for us:
Genesis 2:18 “Then the Lord God said, “It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him a helper fit for him.””
and after God made ……
Genesis 2:23-25 “Then the man said, “This at last is bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.” Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh. And the man and his wife were both naked and were not ashamed.”
Once you get married
you have one wife and one helper. They are one in the same. And Its GODS will for us.
Were called to HOLD fast to, to cleave to, that one WOMAN. To focus our attention, to sacrifice for, to step into ALL that God has for us together. FOcused as ONE.
(“If you want to LOVE you God more, Love your wife more” PS John Burns- Thats one of the ways HE KNOWS that you love him by the way you love and treat the very helper He has miracouugly provided for you!)
I believe Gods calling His MEN to do what he always intended - for us to LOVE our WIVES
*****
So love your WIFE - give it everything you got - Date her - Do whatever it takes to love her WELL. because its Gods will and therefore our BEST.
******

4.To Lead & Bless his Family (take care of His parents)

We are called to be MEN who love our kids, who bless and care for our families…
and take care of our parents. The one commandment with a promise. That it will go WELL with you.
Deut 5:16 ““ ‘Honor your father and your mother, as the Lord your God commanded you, that your days may be long, and that it may go well with you in the land that the Lord your God is giving you.”

5.To Love the Church

this is something that I believe is really emerging in our church. That the man of Colonial are emerging as MEN who have a TRULY HIGH value placed in there own lives on the importance of the church as something to be HIGHLY PRIZED and VALUED.
Do you have LOVE THE CHURCH?
Do you pray for the Church
Do you seek and desire for the Betterment of Her
is this YOUR CHURCH?
I think you know when it is because….you have a care for the church!
Do you approach church as something that you LOVE? Do you LOVE IT? You need to LOVE CHURCH. Your kids and your family wont LOVE it if you DONT. Theres a Chance they MIGHT… but if they SEE a MAN who LOVES the church - THERE IS A VERY GOOD CHANCE they will as well.
So good in fact its almost a 100% gurantee they will love it also…..

6.To Build the Church

To love but also TO BUILD.
Every single man that comes to Wildman should serve on sunday in some way. I think at least once a month we should all be serving and leading the way Parking Cars, Opening doors, running cameras, walking people to their seats…
why?
Because we are called to BUILD
Men are BUILDERS. We make stuff - we build stuff and collectively we should all be taking responsibility to BUILD the CHURCH together
So let me ask you a critical question: Are you building in some way, the house of God right now?

7.To Share the Gospel (tell someone about Jesus)

This is what seperates a man who is ACTIVATED and who isn’t.
someone who is on fire and who isnt
someone who is passionate about others finding the same hope they have found - that is a game changing step for every man.
(next year we are going to be introducing a life course called ACTIVATE and the purpose is going to be helping us as MEN step into being FULLY activated as men of faith
when that comes out I want you to do it!)
When I tell someone else about the gospel is when I go from being a FOLLOWER to Following but as a disciple.
Prohetic word: I am believing that God will begin to raise up great evangelists in our church - Men who just go out and tell people about Jesus - and bring them into church on sunday - And men who BRING Other men other guys into church.
This is one of the “im not sure negotiable’s:….. or maybe the “maybe when I get closer to JESUS.”
This is where OWNERSHIP sets in as a believer. I AM A CHRISTIAN and I NEED TO TAKE THE MOMENTS God gives me to share my FAITH.

8.To Leave an inheritance

This is truly what’s counter cultural: today its hustle til you di and spend it all. But our calling is to steward well, and to leave an inheritance for the next generation: the primary of which is leaving a legacy of spiritual direction.
Leaving an inheritance begins with taking care of your own family and what does that mean: you are an extension of Gods blessing nature towards them.
SO HOW DO WE DO IT?…. we follow christ’s example to LOVINGLY, GRACIOUSLY and SACRIFICALLY give whatever it takes to MAKE SURE OUR the people who come after us are set up for a win BY US.
As in - THIS IS MY RESPONSIBILITY:
This is a not-negotiable for every man.
Psalm 25:13 “His soul shall abide in well-being, and his offspring shall inherit the land.”
The opposite is true - God seems to have a DISLIKE for those that dont take up this non-negotiable:
proverbs 11:29 “Whoever troubles his own household will inherit the wind, and the fool will be servant to the wise of heart.”
BIBLE LEGACY:We can leave an inheritance of the word (knowing the word and passing that on and teaching that
PRAYER LEGACY:We can leave an inheritance of prayer - passing on a way of life where stopping and praying and bringing God into every day situations can lead to a legacy where the next generation is taking that up for themselves
GRACE LEGACY:
GENEROSITY LEGACY:
HERE IS MY POINT - YOUR CALLED TO LEAVE SOMETHING! And lets pray and believer and steward and act in a way that what we LEAVE, is a GOOD thing!
Its Gods will to…

9.To Live called

10.To Pave the way for the next generation…..

The fact that you are here - is going to echo down the generations in your line. Your decision to BE NOT NEGOTAIABLE about your DEVOTION to CHRIST… is going to PAVE THE WAY for someone else.

maybe a child
maybe a friend
maybe a spouse…
But its making a difference.

MINISTRY TIME: what are you going to LAY down do yo can take up one of these commandments?

What could it be for you?
Do you just need to love God more - step into a greater devotional life? Might mean laying down some early sleep. Or something thats IN THE WAY of you and God.
