Who she is Now vs. Who she was back then

Genesis 16:1–11 GW
1 Sarai, Abram’s wife, was not able to have children. She owned an Egyptian slave named Hagar. 2 So Sarai said to Abram, “The Lord has kept me from having children. Why don’t you sleep with my slave? Maybe I can build a family through her.” Abram agreed with Sarai.  3 After Abram had lived in Canaan for ten years, Abram’s wife Sarai took her Egyptian slave Hagar and gave her to her husband Abram to be his wife. 4 He slept with Hagar, and she became pregnant. When Hagar realized that she was pregnant, she began to be disrespectful to Sarai, her owner.  5 So Sarai complained to Abram, “I’m being treated unfairly! And it’s your fault! I know that I gave my slave to you, but now that she’s pregnant, she’s being disrespectful to me. May the Lord decide who is right—you or me.”  6 Abram answered Sarai, “Here, she’s your slave. Do what you like with her.” Then Sarai mistreated Hagar so much that she ran away.  7 The Messenger of the Lord found her by a spring in the desert, the spring on the way to Shur. 8 He said, “Hagar, Sarai’s slave, where have you come from, and where are you going?”  She answered, “I’m running away from my owner Sarai.” 9 The Messenger of the Lord said to her, “Go back to your owner, and place yourself under her authority.” 10 The Messenger of the Lord also said to her, “I will give you many descendants. No one will be able to count them because there will be so many.” 11 Then the Messenger of the Lord said to her,  “You are pregnant,  and you will give birth to a son.  You will name him Ishmael [God Hears],  because the Lord has heard your cry of distress.
It was Sarah’s idea to build a family through the slave girl.
When the slave girl realize she was pregnant she became disrespectful to Sarah
Sarah complains to her husband that the slave is mistreating her and its his fault...
Ab is like she’s your slave i just sleep with her do with her as you like. So Sarah begins to mistreat her and it causes the weaker to run from the stronger..

16 Abram was 86 years old when Hagar gave birth to Ishmael.

4 When Isaac was eight days old, Abraham circumcised him as God had commanded. 5 Abraham was 100 years old when his son Isaac was born.

Genesis 21:9–14 GW
9 Sarah saw that Abraham’s son by Hagar the Egyptian was laughing at Isaac. 10 She said to Abraham, “Get rid of this slave and her son, because this slave’s son must never share the inheritance with my son Isaac.” 11 Abraham was upset by this because of his son Ishmael. 12 But God said to Abraham, “Don’t be upset about the boy and your slave. Listen to what Sarah says because through Isaac your descendants will carry on your name. 13 Besides, I will make the slave’s son into a nation also, because he is your child.”  14 Early the next morning Abraham took bread and a container of water and gave them to Hagar, putting them on her shoulder. He also gave her the boy and sent her on her way. So she left and wandered around in the desert near Beersheba.
Ishmael being the teenager he was, laughed and teased his little brother Issac and Sarah his mother wasn’t having it!
So her excuse was the slave son could never share the inheritance of my son, real reason was.. She remember how she felt when Harar treated her bad and was felt Ish was about to do the same to her son. ( So she disconnected her sones eldest brother)
This really hurt Ab, And i wonder how many man where forced by their wives to choose over the kids in past relationship for the ones they had with there wife.
Genesis 21:12 GW
12 But God said to Abraham, “Don’t be upset about the boy and your slave. Listen to what Sarah says because through Isaac your descendants will carry on your name.
This is how we Know God favors mothers....
Genesis 21:14 KJV
14 And Abraham rose up early in the morning, and took bread, and a bottle of water, and gave it unto Hagar, putting it on her shoulder, and the child, and sent her away: and she departed, and wandered in the wilderness of Beersheba.
This Story Line Surrounds the Life of Sara as a barren desperate women to Sarah the child baring women who is still desperate.
The decisions she made are very similar to the decisions our moms had to make when they where trying to navigate in a Mans World..
Many of our mothers where forced to take the mans role in our lives because.... Protector, Provider, Disciplinarian. All jobs that are assigned to the father and yet they had to adapt.
Adapting to unfamiliar roles can be difficult, exhausting and it can force you into survival beast mode..
As a child or young adult watching your moms navigate through these seasons, it can be easy to judge them or wrestle with unforgiveness for the things that where done to you, for you and through you..
Lets look at some obvious obstacles for women 25,35,45,55,65 years ago.
discrimination
lack of education
poverty
Sexual Abuse
physical abuse
Addictions
Mental health
