An Apostle is a God-ordained messenger called as an eyewitness to the resurrected Christ and a deliverer of the Gospel who correctly interprets the resurrection and its implications by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. Paul’s ministry, quickly defined in the first seven verses of the letter to the Romans, is described in these ways,
Is it a position given only to bond-servants (slaves) of God.
An Apostle is a messenger of Good News.
The goal of an ordained messenger is to bear the fruit of obedience of faith for the sake of his Master.

Apostle: A Lofty Position for a Slave

The implication of Paul’s servitude is that nothing he does as an Apostle is done by his own authority or in any form of autonomy. If you have a problem with his message, you have a problem with God.

Messenger of Good News

The message they carry is one of good new from the mouth of God. Paul has no inherent authority, but only the authority to speak that which is commanded him, which is the unchanging and glorious gospel.
