Christianity in the Work Place

I. To employees: Work As Unto Christ (v.5-8)

a. Glorify Christ by working respectfully (v.5a)
- Paul says they were to obey with "fear and trembling" really means reverence. They were to work seriously reverently because they should work as unto Christ.
b. Glorify Christ by working wholeheartedly (v.5b-6)
- notice the emphasis is on heart in this verse.
- be sincere
- not just when they were being watched or will be noticed
c. Glorify Christ by working willingly (v.7)
- with a good attitude, not with a begrudging attitude. Do it like you are working for God
d. Glorify Christ by working expectantly (v.8)
- Paul reminds them that the ultimate reward is coming
- Whatever good we do, employee or employer, will receive it back from the Lord
Application: Work through Christ, Like Christ, and for Christ.

II. To employers: Treat your employees as you would treat Christ (v.9)

a. Practice mutuality
- Treat all your employees right. Give them all the same attention and respect.
plainly he is saying treat people the way you want to be treated. with: integrity, respect, humility, and gentleness. Treat people as though you would treat Jesus, (Matthew 25:40)
b. Avoid hostility
- Paul says, oversee them "without threatening" don't be a bully or use aggression to accomplish things.
c. Live with Christ-centered accountability

d. Remember God's Impartiality
Application: Lead through Christ, like Christ, and for Christ.
