Luke 8:22–25 ESV
One day he got into a boat with his disciples, and he said to them, “Let us go across to the other side of the lake.” So they set out, and as they sailed he fell asleep. And a windstorm came down on the lake, and they were filling with water and were in danger. And they went and woke him, saying, “Master, Master, we are perishing!” And he awoke and rebuked the wind and the raging waves, and they ceased, and there was a calm. He said to them, “Where is your faith?” And they were afraid, and they marveled, saying to one another, “Who then is this, that he commands even winds and water, and they obey him?”
1. Is your faith in your parents?
Children should obey their parents - Eph. 6:1-3
Ephesians 6:1–3 ESV
Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. “Honor your father and mother” (this is the first commandment with a promise), “that it may go well with you and that you may live long in the land.”
Parents have the responsibility to instruct their children - Eph. 6:4
Ephesians 6:4 ESV
Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.
However, We Should Not Blindly Follow Their Teaching
We Should Listen to What They Instruct, But Believe it Because it is in the Bible
2. Is Your faith in what is popular?
We shouldn’t go with the crowd
The majority is often wrong - Matthew 7:13-14
Matthew 7:13–14 ESV
“Enter by the narrow gate. For the gate is wide and the way is easy that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many. For the gate is narrow and the way is hard that leads to life, and those who find it are few.
What is most popular is not the standard

3. Is your faith in what tickles your ears?

No One Likes to Be Told They Are Wrong
We All Like Being Told We’re Doing Good
For This Reason, There Are Those Who Have Itching Ears - 2 Tim 4:3-5
2 Timothy 4:3–5 ESV
For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions, and will turn away from listening to the truth and wander off into myths. As for you, always be sober-minded, endure suffering, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry.
There Are Those Willing to Tickle Itching Ears (2 Timothy 4:3-5)
Hearing what tickles our ears is not the proper place for our faith

4. Is your faith in what your feelings are?

Everyone Has Their Personal Feelings About What is True or Not
While Our Feelings Are Important to Us, It Does Not Mean It is Right
It is Not in Man to Direct His Own Steps - Jer 10:23
Jeremiah 10:23 ESV
I know, O Lord, that the way of man is not in himself, that it is not in man who walks to direct his steps.
The Way That Seems Right to Man Leads to Death - Prov 14:12
Proverbs 14:12 ESV
There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way to death.
Our faith shouldn’t be in what our feelings are

5. Our faith should be:

In the Lord - Heb. 11:6
Hebrews 11:6 ESV
And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.
Based on the word of God - Rom. 10:17; 2 Tim. 3:16-17

Conclusion:

Where Is Your Faith?
Is it in the Lord?
Is It Based on the Word of God?
