Context of book

Verses 1 and 2

Jesus came in the form of man,

John is bearing witness of what he saw

Jesus is eternal life, the Word of life

Verse 3 and 4

Ye also may have fellowship with us

Our fellowship is with and because of The Father, and The Son

If we have fellowship, our joy may be full

Verse 5 and 6

Jesus message is that God is light, no darkness at all

If we say, we fellowship and walk in darkness we lie.

There is no fellowship with dark and light, NEVER can the two be together

It seems very elementary, but how many times do we see, professing Christians trying to bring the two together. The Bible plainly calls those a liar

God is at enmity with the world, site verses

You can never have the Joy that God intends for you, fellowship with God = Joy verse 4

Verse 7

If we walk in the light, we fellowship with God, and the Blood of Jesus cleanseth our sin

Cleanseth is a ongoing thing, it will keep occurring as needed.

Verse 8

If we say we have no sin, the truth is not in us. We deceive ourselves

Verse 9

Confess our sin, and He will forgive.

Verse 10

He says again if we say that we have not sinned. We make God a liar
