Ungodly Spirits and Discerning Wisdom

1 John 4:1 NIV

Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world.

Big Idea:

Some Spirits are not from God.

I. Introduction

DISCERNING OF SPIRITS One of the gifts of the Spirit (1 Cor. 12:10). It apparently refers to the God-given ability to tell whether a prophetic speech came from God’s Spirit or from another source opposed to God.

II. DO NOT BELIEVE EVERY SPIRIT WHO CRIES

III. DISCERN EVERY MOUTH AND LOOK FOR LIES

IV. BECAUSE FALSE PROPHETS ARE IN DISGUISE
