I got the power! Now I am sure you are waiting for me to reflect on the 1990 hit I Got the Power that had all of us above 40 dancing. I've got the power (Power, power) Hey, yeah-eah

It's getting, it's getting, it's getting kinda heavy It's getting, it's getting, it's getting kinda heavy It's getting, it's getting, it's getting kinda heavy It's getting, it's getting, it's getting kinda heavy
I've got the power (Power, power)
Though i can still see myself still dancing to those lyrics That is not Power that has me excited today. Paul writes the Ephesians shares about another POWER.
15 For this reason, because I have heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love toward all the saints, 16 I do not cease to give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers, 17 that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of him, 18 having the eyes of your hearts enlightened, that you may know what is the hope to which he has called you, what are the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, 19 and what is the immeasurable greatness of his power toward us who believe, according to the working of his great might (Eph 1:15–19).
As he reminds them of how continues to pray for them he informs them he wants them to know just what they have in Jesus Christ. They have POWER
Paul said in the KJV exceeding greatness of his power. Other translations say Immeasurable and incomparable POWER.
Paul what the Ephesians to be enlightened. To have their eyes open to the POWER they possess.
Why do we need to know what kind of power we have? Because everyone of us will need to tap into that power in order to make it!
What is Power? The ability to do things by virtue of strength, skill resources or authorization. Power is synonymous with might, force.
I need to know that this morning! I need to know I have the power necessary to face anything coming my way.
First Paul wants the reader to Know God Better
Its important to know God. The more we interact with God the better we get to know him. Its time for us to go deeper with God. We must move from surface knowledge to deeper knowledge of God. When we know him we will know what he wants for us. Paul said that we may know the hope of his calling. 12 remember that you were at that time separated from Christ, alienated from the commonwealth of Israel and strangers to the covenants of promise, having no hope and without God in the world. 13 But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ. (Eph 2:12–13).
God wants us to appreciate what we have in Christ. We were lost on our way to eternal destruction but God chose us to be saved. When we are truly enlightened we will never go back to our sinful ways. Remember a few weeks back in Bible Class. It was in Hebrews 6 that we learned 4 For it is impossible, in the case of those who have once been enlightened, who have tasted the heavenly gift, and have shared in the Holy Spirit, 5 and have tasted the goodness of the word of God and the powers of the age to come, 6 and then have fallen away, to restore them again to repentance, since they are crucifying once again the Son of God to their own harm and holding him up to contempt. (Heb 6:4–6).
Its the HOPE of our salvation that reminds us that its too valuable to throw away. When we truly enlighten we lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us ( Heb 12:1).
When we know God better we act better. We trust him more. We keep his commandments. We have more faith. We accept difficulties better. We refrain from the wrong crowd.
Secondly Paul wants us to Have the Power
As I opened the sermon. I got the Power. Do you? This immeasurable power that we have can help us know we can do all things through Christ that strengthens us. The Power we have is the same power that God used to raise Jesus from the grave. Yes I got the Power! Power to make better decisions! Power to live out my salvation without fear. Power to bind those things on earth as they are in heaven. Power to speak healing! Power to love my neighbor as myself. Power to treat others right.
Finally We Need to know where the Power resides
when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly places, 21 far above all rule and authority and power and dominion, and above every name that is named, not only in this age but also in the one to come. 22 And he put all things under his feet and gave him as head over all things to the church, 23 which is his body, the fullness of him who fills all in all.
Jesus has that power 9 Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, 10 so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, 11 and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. . (Php 2:9–11).
Jesus is the head of the Church 18 And he is the head of the body, the church. He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in everything he might be preeminent. 19 For in him all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell, 20 and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether on earth or in heaven, making peace by the blood of his cross.
