Dinner in Jerusalem

Luke 24:37 NIV
They were startled and frightened, thinking they saw a ghost.
The disciples doubted that Jesus had really been RESURRECTED.
Luke 24:41–43 NIV
And while they still did not believe it because of joy and amazement, he asked them, “Do you have anything here to eat?” They gave him a piece of broiled fish, and he took it and ate it in their presence.
Jesus proved his RESURRECTION by eating a piece of fish.
Luke 24:39 NIV
Look at my hands and my feet. It is I myself! Touch me and see; a ghost does not have flesh and bones, as you see I have.”
The fish proved that Jesus’ RESURRECTION—and mission—was CONCRETE, not “SPIRITUAL.”
Luke 5:10 NIV
and so were James and John, the sons of Zebedee, Simon’s partners. Then Jesus said to Simon, “Don’t be afraid; from now on you will fish for people.”
Luke 9:13–17 NIV
He replied, “You give them something to eat.” They answered, “We have only five loaves of bread and two fish—unless we go and buy food for all this crowd.” (About five thousand men were there.) But he said to his disciples, “Have them sit down in groups of about fifty each.” The disciples did so, and everyone sat down. Taking the five loaves and the two fish and looking up to heaven, he gave thanks and broke them. Then he gave them to the disciples to distribute to the people. They all ate and were satisfied, and the disciples picked up twelve basketfuls of broken pieces that were left over.
The fish reminded the Disciples of their MISSION to SHARE Jesus.
Luke 24:46–49 NIV
He told them, “This is what is written: The Messiah will suffer and rise from the dead on the third day, and repentance for the forgiveness of sins will be preached in his name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. You are witnesses of these things. I am going to send you what my Father has promised; but stay in the city until you have been clothed with power from on high.”
Jesus SUBPOENAED the Disciples to TESTIFY about him to all nations.
Luke 24:50–51 NIV
When he had led them out to the vicinity of Bethany, he lifted up his hands and blessed them. While he was blessing them, he left them and was taken up into heaven.
Genesis 12:2–3 NIV
“I will make you into a great nation, and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you.”
Jesus gave them his BLESSING to share with the NATIONS.
Galatians 3:14 NIV
He redeemed us in order that the blessing given to Abraham might come to the Gentiles through Christ Jesus, so that by faith we might receive the promise of the Spirit.
2 Corinthians 9:8 NIV
And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.
1 Peter 3:9 NIV
Do not repay evil with evil or insult with insult. On the contrary, repay evil with blessing, because to this you were called so that you may inherit a blessing.

Eating with Jesus

The ministry of Jesus is not about private KNOWLEDGE—it’s about public ACTION.
We have been SUBPOENAED to testify to the world about Jesus.
Matthew 10:32–33 NIV
“Whoever acknowledges me before others, I will also acknowledge before my Father in heaven. But whoever disowns me before others, I will disown before my Father in heaven.
We have been COMMISSIONED to share the BLESSINGS of God with the world.
