INTRODUCTION:
I- RECOGNIZE THAT DIVISION IS AN INDICATION OF SPIRITUAL IMMATURITY.
(1 Corinthians 3:1-9)
A- Immaturity limits the ability of the believer to hear and respond to God’s word.

1- Immaturity hampers communication in the body of Christ.

II- REMEMBER THAT THE FOCUS OF OUR WORK IS THE BUILDING OF GOD’S TEMPLE.
(1 Corinthians 3:10-17)
A- The building of God’s temple must begin with the right foundation.
(1 Corinthians 3:10-11)
10 Κατὰ τὴν χάριν τοῦ θεοῦ τὴν δοθεῖσάν μοι ὡς σοφὸς ἀρχιτέκτων θεμέλιον ἔθηκα, ἄλλος δὲ ἐποικοδομεῖ.
ἕκαστος δὲ βλεπέτω πῶς ἐποικοδομεῖ·
11 θεμέλιον γὰρ ἄλλον οὐδεὶς δύναται θεῖναι παρὰ τὸν κείμενον, ὅς ἐστιν Ἰησοῦς Χριστός·
1- The right foundation is important.
a- The right foundation was laid by Paul in the lives of the Corinthian believers.
(1 Corinthians 3:10)
b- The only foundation that can be laid is Jesus Christ.
(1 Corinthians 3:11)
(1) Any other foundation will not withstand the tests of life and judgment.

B- The building of God’s temple must utilize quality materials.
(1 Corinthians 3:12-15)
1- Care must be taken by those who build.
(1 Corinthians 3:10b)
10 Κατὰ τὴν χάριν τοῦ θεοῦ τὴν δοθεῖσάν μοι ὡς σοφὸς ἀρχιτέκτων θεμέλιον ἔθηκα, ἄλλος δὲ ἐποικοδομεῖ.
ἕκαστος δὲ βλεπέτω πῶς ἐποικοδομεῖ·
a- By each of us as we build our lives.
b- By Christian leaders as we build the temple of God (the church).
2- There is a great accountability for the work we do.
(1 Corinthians 3:12-13)
12 εἰ δέ τις ἐποικοδομεῖ ἐπὶ τὸν θεμέλιον χρυσόν, ἄργυρον, λίθους τιμίους, ξύλα, χόρτον, καλάμην,
13 ἑκάστου τὸ ἔργον φανερὸν γενήσεται, ἡ γὰρ ἡμέρα δηλώσει· ὅτι ἐν πυρὶ ἀποκαλύπτεται, καὶ ἑκάστου τὸ ἔργον ὁποῖόν ἐστιν τὸ πῦρ αὐτὸ δοκιμάσει.

C- The building of God’s temple must be done with a recognition of accountability to God. (1 Corinthians 3:16-17)
1- The Holy Spirit inhabits the lives of believers individually and collectively as the church.

2- God will judge those who destroy God’s church.

III- RECOMMIT TO HUMBLY SUBMITTING TO GOD AND HIS WISDOM.
(1 Corinthians 3:18-23)
A- Humility is necessary in carrying out God’s work.

1- Avoid self-deception that leads to an inflated self-view.
(1 Corinthians 3:18)
2- Choose the path of humility and Godly wisdom, not worldly wisdom.
(1 Corinthians 3:19-20)
B- Submit to God because He is the one to whom we are accountable.
(1 Corinthians 3:21-23)
1- Avoid boasting about following a human leader.
2- The wealth of the Christian includes all things, all leaders, past, present, future, Christ, and God.
There is no room for partisan wrangling here.
