Introduction:
Thanksgiving is by far one of my favorite holidays.
We eat a ton of food, throw the football around, watch football, and enjoy the company of family.
This year we get to spend Thanksgiving in a cabin in AR with our family.
Transition: Thanksgiving shouldn’t be just a once in a year type of thing. I’m not talking about having the meal more often, I am talking about our state of being should be one of thanksgiving.
We find it easier to be cynical, gripers, and complainers.
One thing that will help you with that will be moving from those things into thanksgiving.
Preview: Today we are going to look at 2 sections of scripture that tell us to be thankful.
Philippians 4:6–7 KJV 1900
Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
I. Follow your prayers with thanksgiving.
Don’t be anxious.
Pray about everything.
Follow your prayers with thanksgiving.
“With” gives the idea of company. Let thanksgiving accompany your prayers.
4. The peace of God enters into the heart of the one who prayers with thanksgiving.
Transition: Let’s look at the second one.
1 Thessalonians 5:17–18 KJV 1900
Pray without ceasing. In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.
II. Thanksgiving is God’s will for your life.
Never stop praying.
In every thing - no matter what the situation you find yourself, give thanks.
This is God’s will.
Conclusion:
Praying like monks - gratitude every day.
