Pay it forward video
This is an amazing video showing the kindness that is possible in the world. But we all know we live in a broken world so where does this kindness come from?
God Gives us Grace
God Gives us Grace
Grace is mercy we don’t deserve
We are all sinners
God is perfect
We can never do enough good to earn God’s mercy
Grace is mercy we are freely given
God is perfect love
Perfect love breeds perfect mercy
God gives mercy to us without any expectation for reciprocation
Grace is forgiveness we can never earn
God forgives even the worst of our sins
But there is not anything we can do to earn it.
So God gives it to us freely
Grace Rescues Us
Grace Rescues Us
and giving joyful thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of his holy people in the kingdom of light. For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.
We are given God’s Inheritance
Inheritance is what is passed down from parent to child
We are adopted to be sons and daughters of God
It is a final show of caring and love.
When Jesus made the ultimate sacrifice he did it so that we could be given God’s kingdom
It is an inheritance that we are blessed to share
We are rescued from the kingdom of darkness
Before Jesus made his sacrifice for us we were locked in darkness
We were living in darkness created by our sins
Jesus is light and the light overcomes the darkness John 1:5
The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.
We are redeemed
Because of our sin we are property of satan
But Jesus paid the price for our sins.
We are forgiven
God forgives our sins
He no longer holds them against us
We Must Also Give Grace
We Must Also Give Grace
We are told to forgive
Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.” And they divided up his clothes by casting lots.
We are told to forgive a lot
Then Peter came to Jesus and asked, “Lord, how many times shall I forgive my brother or sister who sins against me? Up to seven times?”
We are told that if we do not forgive then we are not forgiven
But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.
We show God’s love by giving mercy to others.
Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.
Conclusion
Conclusion
Grace is one of the most imperative traits of a believer of Christ. If we accept God’s grace in our lives it should be easy for us to show grace and forgiveness to others. Imagine if all believers behaved the way the people acted in the video we opened with. Imagine how God’s love would spread to all the world. To paraphrase an old hymn, they would know we are Christians because of our love. Let us pray.
