Psalm 92:1–4

I. WE SHOULD GIVE THANKS FOR OUR SAVIOUR.

1. For His devotion to the Father; Luke 22:42

2. For His finished work; John 19:30

3. For His saving power; John 6:37

II. WE SHOULD GIVE THANKS FOR THE HOLY SPIRIT.

1. For His convicting power; John 16:8–11

8 And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: 9 Of sin, because they believe not on me; 10 Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more; 11 Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged.

2. For His leadership; Rom. 8:14

3. For His producing fruit in us; Galatians 5:22-23

III. WE SHOULD GIVE THANKS FOR THE BIBLE.

1. For its inspiration; 2 Tim. 3:16

2. For its power; Heb. 4:12

3. For its message; John 3:16

16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

IV. WE SHOULD GIVE THANKS FOR SALVATION.

1. For the forgiveness of sin; Jer. 33:8

8 And I will cleanse them from all their iniquity, whereby they have sinned against me; and I will pardon all their iniquities, whereby they have sinned, and whereby they have transgressed against me.

2. For cleansing from sin; 1 John 1:9

9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

3. For the assurance of salvation; 2 Tim. 1:12

12 For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.

V. WE SHOULD GIVE THANKS FOR THE CHURCH.

1. For its mission; Matt. 28:19-20

2. For its position; Matt. 16:18-19

3. For its eternal glory; Eph. 2:7

VI. WE SHOULD GIVE THANKS FOR THE PROVISIONS OF LIFE.

1. For food; Rom. 14:6

6 He that regardeth the day, regardeth it unto the Lord; and he that regardeth not the day, to the Lord he doth not regard it. He that eateth, eateth to the Lord, for he giveth God thanks; and he that eateth not, to the Lord he eateth not, and giveth God thanks.

2. For faith; Rom. 1:8

3. For answered prayer; 1 John 5:14-15

14 And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us: 15 And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.

VII. WE SHOULD GIVE THANKS FOR HEAVEN.

1. For our treasures that are there; Matt. 6:20

2. For our names that are there; Luke 10:20

3. For our home that is there; 2 Cor. 5:1
