JESUS CARES

Our Subject this morning is:
“HELP A BROTHER OUT”
Short Story: “LET ME HELP YOU WITH THAT”
Walking down the street, a man noticed a little child trying to reach the door bell. No matter how much the little guy tried, he could not reach it. The man called out “Let me get that for you”. The man bound onto the porch and ranged the door bell. “Thank said the little boy,,, “Now let’s run, because this is not my house”.
In our desire to help someone, we need to identify their need. In this story this morning, it is obvious what this man need,,,, or is it.?
The most distinctive benefit that Christianity offers the world is not, (1) sacrificial love for others, (2) a high standard of morality, or (3) a sense of purpose and satisfaction in life.
All of those virtues are by-products of biblical Christianity, but they are far from Christianity’s greatest gift to humanity.
The gospel message offers one benefit that surpasses all others Religion and that is, it provides a solution for man kind real problem—and that is, the reality that sinners stand guilty before a holy God, who has righteously condemned them to an eternal hell because of their rebellion and lawlessness.
Church you most know that, God does not send people to hell because of sin,,, but because of unforgiven sin. Hell is loaded with people whose sins were never forgiven.
Please hear this statement clearly. The difference between those who look forward to eternal life in heaven and those who will experience everlasting punishment in hell
is not a matter of personal goodness, as other religions teach,
but is bound up entirely in one word: forgiveness.
Since “all have sinned” according to (Rom. 3:23),
Both groups, let me say it again,,, “Both Groups”,,, those in heaven or those in hell,,, are people who were sinners in this life.
And the difference between the two groups is this,,,
those in heaven were granted divine forgiveness by accepting by Faith,
the Grace of God, which grant a person,,, the forgiveness of their sins,,, and then the imputed righteousness given to them through faith in Jesus Christ (cf. Rom. 5:9, 19).
Romans 5:9 (KJV) 9 Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.
(which means that in God’s sight, He see us through the Blood of Jesus,
Which means, He see us “Just-As-If-We Never-Sinned.
Because the “Blood of Jesus” cleanses us from all sin
THERE IS A STIPULATION TO BEING CLEANSED FROM OUR SINS:
1 John 1:7 (KJV) 7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.
Simply stated, every person’s greatest need is the forgiveness of sin.
Consequently, the greatest benefit of the gospel is,,, its offer of divine pardon to those who believe.
No other religion provides the means for full forgiveness;
consequently, all other religions are actually collecting souls for hell.[1]
All roads leads to Roman might be a good saying for the world to follow
But,,, all Religions don’t lead to heaven.
It’s at this point I like to drop my anchor for a little while. Because,,, right in the center of this story,,, we find a “MAN”,,, who is an out and out sinner,
How do I know he is a sinner?
In verse 5, Jesus says thy sins be forgiven thee“.
This man life style fit’s the biblical description of a sinner
Romans 3:23 (KJV) 23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
Don’t that sound like somebody you know,,,, YOURSELF.
Before any of us became a Christian,,, we were all sinner, who had come short of the Glory of God. One day we went looking for Jesus and founded Him.
Some found Him in church.
Some found Him, in your home, through good parents.
Some found Him, on your job, having good Christian co-workers
Some found Him, while hunting, (Preacher son told me his story of how he accepted Jesus by Looking at an inmate who was incarcerated.
Some found Him,,, in other different places.
But,,, We found Him!!!,,,, usually because of someone else helping us.
Like in this story,,, these men were willing to help their brother,,,, Are you willing too:
“HELP A BROTHER OUT”
This man in this story, was in a bad situation.
He had a dreaded disease called palsy.
Palsy today is call paralysis,,, which is sympton of a organic disease of the central nervous system, affecting the temporary or permanent loss of sensation and or voluntary muscle control.
This man could not walk.
This man could not make his way to Jesus.
If anyone needed for someone too:
“HELP A BROTHER OUT”
This man was him.
This man is an out and out sinner,
This man did not have anything going good for himself,,, except for four friends who was willing too:
“HELP A BROTHER OUT”
As we get into our study, look with me at our first verse in the scripture read.
Mark 2:1 (KJV) 1 And again he entered into Capernaum after some days; and it was noised that he was in the house.
again he entered into Capernaum after some days --
In Mark 1:1,,, we pick up the beginning of Jesus Ministry recorded by Mark.
Mark 1:1 (KJV) 1 The beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God;
The story move pretty fast, in verse 9:
Mark 1:9 (KJV) 9 And it came to pass [the fullfillment of scripture, which was told by John to his disciples] in those days, that Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee, and was baptized of John in Jordan.
Verse 12-13, tell us that Jesus is led of the Holy Spirit into the wilderness for 40 days.
Verses 15-20, [Call his Disciples] Jesus call his disciples to “Follow Me” and they did
Verses 21-22, [Jesus began to teach] Jesus astound the people with His wisdom of the scripture.
Verses 23-28, [Jesus began to perform miracles] Jesus Cast the Evil Spirit out of a man, which caused Him to become famous in the sight of the people.
Mark 1:28-29 (KJV) 28 And immediately his fame spread abroad throughout all the region round about Galilee. 29 And forthwith, when they were come out of the synagogue, they entered into the house of Simon and Andrew, with James and John.
The house of Simon Peter is one that Jesus seemed to use whenever He was back home.
Mark begins with Jesus returning to Capernaum approximately 12 months of preaching throughout Galilee (Mk. 1:39).
Mark 1:39 (KJV) 39 And he preached in their synagogues throughout all Galilee, and cast out devils.
Which brings us to our study for today:
Mark 2:1-12 (KJV) 1 And again he entered into Capernaum after some days; and it was noised that he was in the house.
1 And again he entered into Capernaum after some days:
As I said theses many days were around a year later, after He had gone around preaching throughout Galilee (Mk. 1:39).
and it was noised that he was in the house.
If you remember, because of all of the people surrounding Him,,, needing help from Him, Jesus left and went through-out the land Preaching to all the people.
2 And straightway many were gathered together, insomuch that there was no room to receive them, no, not so much as about the door: and he preached the word unto them.
3 And they come unto him, bringing one sick of the palsy, which was borne of four. 4 And when they could not come nigh unto him for the press, they uncovered the roof where he was: and when they had broken it up, they let down the bed wherein the sick of the palsy lay. 5 When Jesus saw their faith, he said unto the sick of the palsy, Son, thy sins be forgiven thee. 6 But there were certain of the scribes sitting there, and reasoning in their hearts, 7 Why doth this man thus speak blasphemies? who can forgive sins but God only? 8 And immediately when Jesus perceived in his spirit that they so reasoned within themselves, he said unto them, Why reason ye these things in your hearts? 9 Whether is it easier to say to the sick of the palsy, Thy sins be forgiven thee; or to say, Arise, and take up thy bed, and walk? 10 But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power on earth to forgive sins, (he saith to the sick of the palsy,) 11 I say unto thee, Arise, and take up thy bed, and go thy way into thine house. 12 And immediately he arose, took up the bed, and went forth before them all; insomuch that they were all amazed, and glorified God, saying, We never saw it on this fashion.
“When I get to heaven, I shall see three wonders there:
The first wonder will be to see many there whom I did not expect to see;
the second wonder will be to miss many people whom I did expect to see;
the third and greatest of all will be to find myself there” (John Newton, author of hymn “Amazing Grace”).[2]
