7. Reveals your heart- A bitter, resentful, angry, unforgiving heart will have a hard time being thankful. Is it hard for you to give thanks?
8. It is a way of taking your thoughts captive.
9. Deliverance- Psalm 50:14-15 “Offer to God thanksgiving, And pay your vows to the Most High. Call upon Me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you shall glorify Me.””
10. Positions you for more blessings- Jeremiah 30:19-20 “Then out of them shall proceed thanksgiving And the voice of those who make merry; I will multiply them, and they shall not diminish; I will also glorify them, and they shall not be small. Their children also shall be as before, And their congregation shall be established before Me; And I will punish all who oppress them.”
11. Protection (Previous verse)- Man driving home with his daughter to get a document. Steep incline on drive way. Man stepped out of car left it running and daughter in the car seat. He’s at the door and just as he is about to put the key in the door he hears a horrible crashing sound behind him.
“You have no idea how man attacks of the enemy that were sent out towards you and your family that fell down to the ground even before you knew about it…because of your thanksgiving.”
Psalm 8:2 “Out of the mouth of babes and nursing infants You have ordained strength, Because of Your enemies, That You may silence the enemy and the avenger.”
12. Peace- Philippians 4:6 “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God;”
13. Allows us to enter the presence of God- Psalm 100:4 “Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, And into His courts with praise. Be thankful to Him, and bless His name.”
14. Brings joy- Psalm 126:1-3 “When the Lord brought back the captivity of Zion, We were like those who dream. Then our mouth was filled with laughter, And our tongue with singing. Then they said among the nations, “The Lord has done great things for them.” The Lord has done great things for us, And we are glad.”
