in Matthew 10 Jesus was preaching and teaching and performing miracles and was rejected in Chorazin and Capernaum. He pronounced judgement on those two cities.
Matthew 11:25 NASB95
25 At that time Jesus said, “I praise You, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that You have hidden these things from the wise and intelligent and have revealed them to infants.
Matthew 18:1–3 NASB95
1 At that time the disciples came to Jesus and said, “Who then is greatest in the kingdom of heaven?” 2 And He called a child to Himself and set him before them, 3 and said, “Truly I say to you, unless you are converted and become like children, you will not enter the kingdom of heaven.
We think of kids as being Gullible.
I remember when Nora, our oldest grandchild was between two and three. I did the “Got your nose” game. She would laugh and try and get her nose back. Got upset if she didn’t get her nose back.
In her child mind. I really had her nose.
I was an adult, she didn’t know much, but she knew that I knew more then her.
It was complete trust.
God’s Word doesn’t call us to approach the world that way.
Matthew 10:16 NASB95
16 “Behold, I send you out as sheep in the midst of wolves; so be shrewd as serpents and innocent as doves.
He doesn’t even tell us to approach the Church that way.
1 Thessalonians 5:19–22 NASB95
19 Do not quench the Spirit; 20 do not despise prophetic utterances. 21 But examine everything carefully; hold fast to that which is good; 22 abstain from every form of evil.
Warning
2 Timothy 3:13–14 NASB95
13 But evil men and impostors will proceed from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived. 14 You, however, continue in the things you have learned and become convinced of, knowing from whom you have learned them,
When we think of children, we don’t think of wisdom:
James 1:5 NASB95
5 But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all generously and without reproach, and it will be given to him.
So what was Jesus talking about?
The Riddle:
97% of Harvard Students but most kindergarten students get right.
'I turn polar bears white, and I will make you cry. I make guys have to pee, and girls have to comb their hair,' he says. 'I make celebrities look like normal people, and normal people look like celebrities.
'I turn your pancakes brown, and I make your champagne bubble. If you squeeze me, I'll pop. If you'll look at me, you'll pop.
Can you guess the riddle?
NO
Kids don’t overcomplicate things.
Katie in the Store
Barbie isle:
Laying on the ground crying.
We would walk away.
Katie realized that she was separated from her parents, and the Barbie no longer mattered, all other desires faded and she had one thing in mind.
I have to find them. At that time in her life, we were her whole world and nothing else mattered but to be reunited with us. At that time, her only identity was as our child and her life depended on finding us.
That is a child like pursuit of the Kingdom of God.
Katie didn’t over complicate things.
Katie did’t say, “well I’ll be ok with out them for a while.”
“I don’t need them”
Simple: Find them. Stay close to them.

You were made to be in fellowship with God.

We were made in the image of God
2. God walked with Adam and Eve.

Sin Separates us from God.

Isaiah 59:2 NASB95
2 But your iniquities have made a separation between you and your God, And your sins have hidden His face from you so that He does not hear.

Everyone has sinned

Romans 3:23 NASB95
23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
When Katie found herself separated from us, She had to figure out a way to find us.

17 So faith comes from hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ.
Believe
John 8:24 NASB95
24 “Therefore I said to you that you will die in your sins; for unless you believe that I am He, you will die in your sins.”
Repent
2 Corinthians 7:10 NASB95
10 For the sorrow that is according to the will of God produces a repentance without regret, leading to salvation, but the sorrow of the world produces death.
Confess
Matthew 10:32–33 NASB95
32 “Therefore everyone who confesses Me before men, I will also confess him before My Father who is in heaven. 33 “But whoever denies Me before men, I will also deny him before My Father who is in heaven.
