Mark 1:40–45 (ESV)
Mark 1:40–45 ESV
40 And a leper came to him, imploring him, and kneeling said to him, “If you will, you can make me clean.” 41 Moved with pity, he stretched out his hand and touched him and said to him, “I will; be clean.” 42 And immediately the leprosy left him, and he was made clean. 43 And Jesus sternly charged him and sent him away at once, 44 and said to him, “See that you say nothing to anyone, but go, show yourself to the priest and offer for your cleansing what Moses commanded, for a proof to them.” 45 But he went out and began to talk freely about it, and to spread the news, so that Jesus could no longer openly enter a town, but was out in desolate places, and people were coming to him from every quarter.
Today we are not dealing with Lepersey in the streets but lets look at what a leper had to deal with
Lonely
abandoned
rejected
sick
dieing
We have people in our communities, in our home, that feel like that by society, by family, and by the church.
Our Goal here at GCC is to change that last one.
No one should feel judged, rejected, lonely, when coming to church and here we are striving to let it be know that any one is welcome ,everyone is wanted and that the gospel is created for everyone.
Jesus shows us how to reach the rejected, lets look
If YOU Will
Matthew 7:21–23 ESV
21 “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. 22 On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’ 23 And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.’
1 Peter 2:15–17 ESV
15 For this is the will of God, that by doing good you should put to silence the ignorance of foolish people. 16 Live as people who are free, not using your freedom as a cover-up for evil, but living as servants of God. 17 Honor everyone. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honor the emperor.
Jesus answered not in a scripture reading, not in a promise to pray, He TOUCHED Him
You were not allowed to do that, you would get sick, you would become unclean.
Who’s Life am I Reaching Out To Change
Philippians 2:1–11 ESV
1 So if there is any encouragement in Christ, any comfort from love, any participation in the Spirit, any affection and sympathy, 2 complete my joy by being of the same mind, having the same love, being in full accord and of one mind. 3 Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. 4 Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others. 5 Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, 6 who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, 7 but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. 8 And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. 9 Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, 10 so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, 11 and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
Now to help everyone we can and to change the view of the church does not mean we are getting rid of what is right. We still are called to be an example.
Jesus didnt just heal the man and thats it, Jesus told him to so what Moses said to do, keep the commandment.
Go and Do what is right ( Be The Example)
We all have heard of the christians that are bad examples of the Gospel, It is up to us to change that, to make it right. and be set apart.
James 4:17 ESV
17 So whoever knows the right thing to do and fails to do it, for him it is sin.
Colossians 3:17 ESV
17 And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.
Application
Grow : God has called us to learn from Jesus Example. We are the once sent to continue His ministry. As we Grow Closer to God we will be more willing to do his will
Connect : We are the ones sent to reach the lost, to connect with them to buid relasionship with them. Our connecting with the lost can greatly change their life and their enturnity.
Community : If we want the Gospel to be in the community, we have to take it. We have to share it and work it in the community. WE can not just be christians in the church but in the public and we must change our faith from a privit one to a public one Jesus was always in his community, we need to be the same.
