Quotes on Prayer

Philip Brooks wrote; the purpose of Prayer is not to get man's will done in heaven but to get God's will done on earth.

When a person is born from above, the life of the Son of God is born in him, and he can either starve that life or nurse it. Prayer is the way the life of God is nourished. Oswald Chambers

Prayer is powerful. The devil smiles when we make plans. He laughs when we get too busy. But he trembles when we pray, especially when we pray together. Corri Ten Boone

Spread out your petition before god, and then say, thy will, not mine, be done. The sweetest lesson I have learned in God's School is to let the Lord choose for me. Dwight L. Moody

"Don't pray when you feel like it. Have an appointment with the Lord and keep it." ~ Corrie Ten Boon

"The one concern of the devil is to keep Christians from praying. He fears nothing from prayerless studies, prayerless work, and prayer-less religion. He laughs at our toil, mocks at our wisdom, but trembles when we pray." ~ Samuel Chadwick

"Is prayer your steering wheel or your spare tire?" ~ Corrie Ten Boom

"None can believe how powerful prayer is, and what it is able to effect, but those who have learned it by experience." ~ Martin Luther"

We have to pray with our eyes on God, not on the difficulties." ~ Oswald Chambers

"The function of prayer is not to influence God, but rather to change the nature of the one who prays." ~ Soren Kierkegaard

"If God is not first in our thoughts and efforts in the morning, He will be in the last place the remainder of the day." ~ Edward McKendree Bounds"

Prayer requires more of the heart than of the tongue." ~ Adam Clarke

To be a Christian without prayer is no more possible than to be alive without breathing. Martin Luther

Through prayer, all God's resources become available to us, including the unspeakable resource of himself. We need the power in high spiritual performance that can be activated only by prayer. Without realizing it, many Christians have become like an old car that might run for a while but diluted fuel means it's not very powerful or effective. Its just getting by. Im here to tell you tonight that when you have a up to date on fire growing daily relationship with Jesus you dont have to merly get by, you can thrive. You can flourish , matter of fact because its in our weakness we see Gods strength and his grace!

9 But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is perfected in weakness.” Therefore, I will most gladly boast all the more about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may reside in me.

This is Paul speaking about the thorn in his flesh that he was asking God to remove, but God isnt willing to remove it and what God is showing us is that theres two ways God helps us. He will either take the burden or fix the problem for us, He’ll take the load off of our shoulders or He’ll strengthen the shoulders carrying the load. So instead of taking the thorn from Pauls flesh God strengthened Paul under it, thus God is showing His strength through Pauls weakness.
The fact that in our weakness we see Gods strength tells me that ive got access to His power to His strength and when I operate surrendered, sanctified, sold out , you better get ready because his Holy Spirit is activated in my life and ill not just be getting by ill be living in the powerful boldness of the Spirit, and when we as a whole begin to operate this way yes its powerful its effective. Its contagious and its how God intends us to live as Christians and prayer is the key. You notice Paul is praying, its during prayer that God gives us this strength to carry the load, it’s in prayer where God takes our weaknesses and gives us His sufficient grace that puts His power and might and strength on display through our lives. So God does so much with the prayer life of one saint, He hears that one saints prayer He takes that saints problems and burdens and He gives them grace in the form of strength enabling them to get through their problems while everyone is watching with shock and awe because of how strong they are how strong there faith is and then that saint stands us and testifies that they are weak but He is strong, that they didnt think they were going to make it but they prayed fervently and all the sudden they got a energy a power and strength that wasnt natural it was super natural because church its in our weakness we see and experience God’s strength!!!
