A House Of Healing
God’s first priority is to heal us from our spiritual brokenness.
But through our spiritual healing He brings emotional and psychological healing.
And sometimes through our spiritual healing He brings physical healing.
Regardless, the purpose of all healing is to lead people to give glory to God.

The presence of Christ in the elements of the Lord’s Supper.
Unlike the Lutherans, Catholics, and others, we believe that Christ is present with us, but no different than any other time.
Our celebration of the Eucharist is just a more focused and specific time with no substantive change to the elements.
The elements therefore are more of a memory device, a teaching tool, and metaphorical for what Christ did for us.

We See Thanksgiving And Prayer Connected All Over Scripture

Give Thanks In Everything
Give Thanks In Everything. It doesn’t say FOR everything, but IN.
Eucharisteo: Jesus was speaking well and blessing the very things that would bring Him pain.
Having given thanks, He broke the bread…This is my body broken for you. The gift of His body. Bread - The healing of our bodies
Jesus gave thanks for the shedding of His blood. The gift of the cross. Wine - The healing of our souls
Jesus was thanking God for what God was going to do through or in the midst of the suffering.
What kept Him going? Who for the joy set before Him…Joy – chara, and the grace– charis, to be given us.

Why Eucharisteo? (Psalm 107:1-9)

We Thank Him For Who He Is. (Psalm 107:1)
Give Thanks in Hebrew:
A rightful heavenward acknowledgment.
That is acknowledging what is right and true about God.
We must have a proper understanding of God.
God is probably the most misunderstood being, ever.
Truth / Faithful / Merciful / Steadfast / Just / Righteous
He is Good
Well-pleasing, morally correct, desirable, profitable, kind
Good. God is good and does all things for our good.
We Thank Him For His Hesed. (Psalm 107:1)
His Faithfulness to His promises
Hesed – kindness, mercy, goodness, faithfulness, love
This defines His character in how he relates to us. We see it fleshed out in Psalm 136 where the word is mentioned 26 times.
His Everlasting Lovingkindness.
Micah 7:18–20 NASB95
Who is a God like You, who pardons iniquity And passes over the rebellious act of the remnant of His possession? He does not retain His anger forever, Because He delights in unchanging love. He will again have compassion on us; He will tread our iniquities under foot. Yes, You will cast all their sins Into the depths of the sea. You will give truth to Jacob And unchanging love to Abraham, Which You swore to our forefathers From the days of old.
He was faithful to His promise of bringing us a Savior.

And His mercy is upon generation after generation Toward those who fear Him.
But the lovingkindness of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting on those who fear Him...
The Septuagint translates “lovingkindness” to “mercy” and “…from everlasting to everlasting…” to “…from generation to generation…”. Now look again at Psalm 107:1 and we see the same phrase: “his lovingkindness is everlasting”.
Changing lovingkindness to mercy makes sense, but why did the Septuagint change “everlasting” to “generations”?
“everlasting to everlasting” can refer to a period of time over many generations.
Interestingly enough, Psalm 107 points back to Psalm 103 and is an answer to the prayers of the exiles from Psalm 103. Look at verses 2-3.
Upon the return to the Promised Land, they wrote Psalm 107 highlighting the truth that God is the same through all generations and that He will fulfill His faithfulness and lovingkindness to us through all generations.
Mary then takes Psalm 103 and Psalm 107 and brings them both forward to her circumstance and applies them to her situation with the coming of the Redeemer, the Savior, the ultimate fulfillment of the cry of both Psalms.

He has filled the hungry with good things...
...And the hungry soul He has filled with what is good.
God’s hesed was ultimately revealed to us through Jesus Christ. Luke 1:46-55, is Mary's Magnificat, in which we see Psalm 103 and 107 summarized and directly quoted, and this is right after she is told that Jesus, the Messiah, the Redeemer of Israel and all the world, will come from her womb. Why is that significant?
The noun form of the verb for compassion in Psalm 103 is translated womb, when used in the singular.
Psalm 103:11–13 (NASB95)
For as high as the heavens are above the earth, So great is His lovingkindness toward those who fear Him. As far as the east is from the west, So far has He removed our transgressions from us. Just as a father has compassion on his children, So the Lord has compassion on those who fear Him.
So then, there’s a fascinating connection, that God's compassion for us will come to us through the womb...
So we have compassion/womb…everlasting/generations…

“And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall name Him Jesus...and He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and His kingdom will have no end.”
The compassion of God in Mary’s womb would prove His lovingkindness that is everlasting in duration and will be extended to generations of people through the babe in the womb, which fulfills His covenant promise to Abraham, showing His Hesed or faithfulness that we just looked at in the previous point.
As a result of the birth of Jesus, God could truly fulfill Psalm 103:11-13.
Mary’s use of Psalm 103 and Psalm 107 also brings us to the point of her subtly claiming that the same God who was with Moses in the Exodus, is the same God who was with David in all his struggles, who was the same God with remnant in Babylon, who was the same God who brought them home to the Promised Land who is now the same God for Mary who will bring His ultimate promise through the seed of Abraham, Jesus, and of course, He’s the same God for us today.

We Thank Him For Providing Us A Home. (Psalm 107:4-7)
Where Jesus is, is where home is.

The Word became flesh and took up residence among us. We observed His glory, the glory as the One and Only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.
The Holy Spirit makes His home in us.

We will someday have a home in God the Father’s house.

Finally, this also includes our spiritual family, our spiritual home - the church.

We Thank Him For His Wonders To The Sons Of Men (Psalm 107:8)
usually a reference to the Exodus, Wilderness Wanderings, and conquering of the Promised Land
secondarily, to the return from exile,
then to any wonder of God.
We Thank Him For Filling Us With What Is Good (Psalm 107:9)
He has satisfied us our thirsty and hungry soul.
Come To Me. Find rest for your soul.
Contentment - again the opposite is complaining and arguing

I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances. I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. I can do everything through him who gives me strength.

But godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it. But if we have food and clothing, we will be content with that.
