Paul Ministers In Malta

Acts:28: 1 “1 And after we were brought safely through, then we found out that the island was called Malta.”
Acts:28: 2 “2 And the local inhabitants showed extraordinary kindness to us, for they lit a fire and welcomed us all, because of the rain that had begun and because of the cold.”
Acts:28: 3 “3 And when Paul had gathered a large number of sticks and was placing them on the fire, a viper came out because of the heat and fastened itself on his hand.”
Acts: 28: 4 “4 And when the local people saw the creature hanging from his hand, they began saying to one another, “Doubtless this man is a murderer whom, although he was rescued from the sea, Justice has not permitted to live!””
Acts: 28: 5 “5 He, in turn, shook off the creature into the fire and suffered no harm.”
Acts:28: 6 “6 But they were expecting that he was going to swell up or suddenly to fall down dead. So after they had waited for a long time and saw nothing unusual happen to him, they changed their minds and began saying that he was a god.”
Acts:28 :7 “7 Now in the regions around that place were fields belonging to the chief official of the island, named Publius, who welcomed us and entertained us hospitably for three days.”
Acts:28 :8 “8 And it happened that the father of Publius was lying down, afflicted with fever and dysentery. Paul went to him and after praying, he placed his hands on him and healed him.”
Acts:28: 9 “9 And after this had taken place, the rest of those on the island who had diseases were coming and being healed also.”
Acts:28: 10 “10 They also honored us with many honors, and when we were putting out to sea, they gave us the things we needed.”

Introduction : The People of Malta
Our Text Describes the people of Malta as barbarous,But they were not Barbarians as the term is defined today in biblical times, any non-Greek-speaking person..Greeks used the term not to denote uncultured individuals but to identify

I. Learn To Receive (28:1-2)

While it is true that it is”more blessed to give than to receive”
Acts:20:35 “35 I have shown you with respect to all things that by working hard in this way it is necessary to help those who are in need, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus that he himself said, “It is more blessed to give than to receive.””

II. Receiving Help From Strangers

Acts:28:1-2 “1 And after we were brought safely through, then we found out that the island was called Malta.

III..A Glimpse If The Extraordinary(Acts:28:3-6) “3 And when Paul had gathered a large number of sticks and was placing them on the fire, a viper came out because of the heat and fastened itself on his hand.

Point: Paul was not a lazy Person (Romans :12;11)
Romans:12:11 “11 not lagging in diligence, being enthusiastic in spirit, serving the Lord,”

IV. Rising Above Circumstances (Acts:28:7-10)
Acts: 28:7-10 “7 Now in the regions around that place were fields belonging to the chief official of the island, named Publius, who welcomed us and entertained us hospitably for three days.
8 And it happened that the father of Publius was lying down, afflicted with fever and dysentery. Paul went to him and after praying, he placed his hands on him and healed him.
9 And after this had taken place, the rest of those on the island who had diseases were coming and being healed also.
10 They also honored us with many honors, and when we were putting out to sea, they gave us the things we needed.”
While Enjoying Publius’ generosity,Paul Learned That His Host’s father Lay confined to his bed by recurring bouts of fever and bloody diarrhea.
Acts:28:8 “8 And it happened that the father of Publius was lying down, afflicted with fever and dysentery. Paul went to him and after praying, he placed his hands on him and healed him.”
Paul took the initiative to visit the man as to believed he should do to support the weak.
I Thessalonians:5: 14 “14 And we urge you, brothers, admonish the disorderly, console the discouraged, help the sick, be patient toward all people.”
After entering the man’s room,Paul approached his bed ,and as Jesus often did, laid his hands on the man and prayed
Mark:6:5 “5 And he was not able to do any miracle in that place except to lay his hands on a few sick people and heal them.”
Luke:4:40 “40 Now as the sun was setting, all who had those who were sick with various diseases brought them to him, and placing his hands on every one of them, he healed them.”
Luke:13:13 “healed him”“13 And he placed his hands on her, and immediately she straightened up and glorified God.”
In Acts:28:8 “8 And it happened that the father of Publius was lying down, afflicted with fever and dysentery. Paul went to him and after praying, he:he placed his hands on him and healed him.” Luke says what Paul did ; “he”healed him”
Acts:1: 1-2 “1 I produced the former account, O Theophilus, about all that Jesus began to do and to teach,
2 until the day he was taken up, after he had given orders through the Holy Spirit to the apostles whom he had chosen,”
Acts:2:43 “43 And fear came on every soul, and many wonders and signs were being performed by the apostles.”
